(Bue sur place): Une belle robe sombre laisse passer la lumière. Chocolat noir, caramel et mélasse se mélangent et se laissent compléter par une touche herbacée, poivrée.

On tap at the source, pours a super dark brown with a light tan head. The smell is roasted malt, molasses, dark bread. The taste is molasses, roasted malt, a bit herbal. The body is light plus with average carbonation.

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2011 Rated at Klosterbrau Nov 2011. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted/burnt grain, bitter chocolate), with notes of molasses, minerals, milk, black tea. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Odd collection of aromas, but ultimately enjoyable. Decent balance.

JorisPPattyn (10072) - BELGIUM - SEP 19, 2005
Draught Black beer with some red highlights, dark coloured head, not very stable. Liquorice, jap nose, sweet, but not disturbingly so. Dry black grains taste, a bit of liquorice, but virtually no sweetness. A bit of carbonised flavour. A bit light and watery in MF, but no cloying or unrefined slickness. A real Bamberg speciality, well worh looking for.

kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - MAY 31, 2006
Draught (at Klosterbrau): Very dark black with a light brown large head. Sweetish choc, nice clean malts. A little thin but refreshing and tasty.
