bartlebier (4159) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - OCT 18, 2017
50cl bb04/2022 brygg #359, from source, takk Jørn. - Kort: mature restraint and elegance gives this sugar kelp and seawater-infused stout just enough mineral dryness to bring out the deep roasted malt flavours and fondants. - - Creamy, thick near-black pour with organically indented beige cap. Aroma of fresh double espresso, earthy tobacco, dried liquorice stick and a thin slice of 80% dark chocolate sprinkled with seasalt. An almost lactose-like powdery sweetness rises on top upon warming. - I love the mouthfeel here: thick, near-unctuous and convincing - someone give this to Belgian stout brewers and their sugar-powdered Nesquick fizz, café americano to espresso. - - A dense flavour experience of all kinds of roast cocoa and coffee beans, earthy charred wood, seaweed tang. - Enough roast, mineral edge and a mysterious "black" element (not NO black metal or stavkirke ashes) to make this a satisfying gulper, not a sipper, despite the intensity of flavours, thickness and abv. Could do with a case of this. - Given how low-key it's presented and how it puts balance first, it's telling how this mighty, original Norwegian terroir (sugar kelp) stout has to fly beneath the radars of pastry stout admirers in its home niche. On par with some of the best Irish and British dry stouts.

Foffern (1983) - Bodø, NORWAY - JUL 27, 2017
Bottle at To rom og Kj?kken, Trondheim. Has a deep brown to black colour with a small beige head. Aroma of licorice, coffee, dark chocolate, nuts and bread. The flavour has more chocolate truffles along with coffee, rye bread and nuts. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and light to medium bitterness. A malty stout with a nice chocolate touch. The seaweed was not evident though.

Flaske 500ml fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø Langnes. Drukket i Skibotn 13 Aug 15. Kullsort. Lysebrunt skum som daler raskt og samler seg langs glasset. Veldig forsiktig sjokoladearoma. Smaken søt sjokolade. Masse bunnfall.

yngwie (17261) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 18, 2015
Bottle, at Haand Festival. It’s a dark beer, almost black, with a dense, finger-thick head, dark beige in color. Caramel and brown sugar in the aroma, lightly roasted. It’s full-bodied and nicely carbonated, with roasted malts and caramel dominating the flavor. Some brown sugar and a faint bitterness too, guess it’s more bitter than detected. Dry on the palate, with a lasting finish. Yet another high quality beer from Klostergården. 150529

Cunningham (8456) - Halden, NORWAY - JUN 14, 2015
Black color with a fine tan head. Roast, chocolate and coffee. Quite inviting. Medium + body and a soft carbonation. Toffee, salt-ish, chocolate, coffee and mild roasted. Fresh and nice stout!
[On tap at Haand 15 in Drammen, Norway]
