bartlebier (4242) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - DEC 6, 2017
50cl bf:10/2019, takk & god Jul Jørn & familie. - - Another of this unique insular farmyard brewery's unique brews that is wildly underrated. Not sure if I'd classify it as EngStrong, while being definitely English/British based on the basis of dark malts...Porter/Foreign Stout? - - Classy opaque black shine pour. Aromatic, deep soil-driven roast in the nose: coffee grounds and its wet dregs, older leather, tobacco, dissolved chocolate, milder chicory, pumpernickel and liquorice. Very little spice in aroma, and gladly also in flavour: was any added at all, or is this the first ever purist Juløl? - Overwhelmingly harmonic, mature and terroir-driven brew in flavour with excellent silky mouthfeel: all black polished malts, nearly shining like chrome in the dark fondant & ashy liquorice root night. Thick, near-oily mouthfeel which I am very fond of in all-malt brews. - Not spectacular by way of antics, but very impressive in the way it fills out those 6,5% with deep, relaxed rustic flavours of the land, while looking abroad for inspiration in the recipe. - So far criminally underrated by NO/Scandi beer nerds: get a grip on your palates before you become a pastrystout dominion of US-imported brewers, you muppet vikings!

ClubGonzo (5683) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 10, 2016
Bottle from Vinmonopolet Bergen Storsenter, Bergen. Pours a deep brown body with a medium creamy light beige head. Nose is licorice, caramel, raisins, rum, deep malty notes and hints of nougat, leather and mild coffee. Taste is caramel, licorice, burnt toast, nougat and hints of leather, coffee, red berries, faint metallic tones and deep malts. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Full of flavor, this ESA borders on a stout. Tasty, but I suspect it’s still a bit fresh and will improve more in a few months.

Palme (4906) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 7, 2016
0.5l bottle from #287. A really good looking one this. Deep dark brown and cloudy in the glass a on on top a good looking deep brown almost creamy head, slowly fading leaving small volcano craters in top of the beer. It has sweet and malty caramel and spiced infused aroma. I almost feel it smells barreled this! Deep rich chocolate and lots of thick roastiness. A mighty and deep nose. It has a thick and oily mouthfeel and it’s about average on the creamy carbonation. Really tasty also. It has a lovely depth of flavors. Dark and rich chocolate and roasted malts. Then a dark molasses sweetness combined with dark espresso, sweet licorice and traces of cocoa powder in the tail. Wow, this is actually a superb dark beer. Well done! 23.11.2015

larsga (7690) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 12, 2016
Big dark brown head. Opaque black body goes deep dark hazy brown at edges. Earthy spicy mealy aroma with toasted rice notes. Sweetish roasty earthy mealy taste with spicy funky notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish spicy peppery rye aftertaste with earthy mealy notes. Disappointing for Klostergården. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Lørenskog. Batch #281.)

metalspice (1178) - Jevnaker, NORWAY - JAN 2, 2016
Lett bitterhet i avslutningen.
