Shared 12 oz. bottle. Clear gold with a white head. Aroma is hoppy and fruity. Taste is tropical fruit, grapefruit, pine, resinous. Bitter finish. darbeer75 (955) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - NOV 4, 2016
Aroma: dank, sweet and hoppy all at once; interesting; Appearance; crystal clear golden pour with fluffy white head that lingers with some lacing; Taste: nicely complex with different tastes throughout swallow; no mistaking it’s an imperial; Palate: medium body with long, bitter finish; Overall: very good; would definitely get again. Appearance: hazy pale amber with two fingers of fluffy ivory head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: resiny pine, caramel malt, grapefruit zest, grassy. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, high bitter. (6/10) Medium slightly oily body, moderate carbonation, off-dry short duration finish. (3/5)
Please don’t be malt-forward, please don’t be malt-forward, please don’t be malt-forward… huh. It’s… sort of… not malt forward. Malt heavy, sure, but not dominant. But the malts and the hops appear to be a mish-mash of whatever they could get their hands on - there’s certainly no overriding theme here. And yes, it’s way, WAY too old. I’d try it younger if I could get it younger, except I’m in the friggin’ boonies, do they deliver this shit by walking it over the border, yadda yadda yadda. On the other hand, the big ABV doesn’t really factor, so there’s that. It’s a big, malty DIPA. If that’s your thing, go nuts - but I’m less than impressed. Sample from bottle at Hy-Vee Oktoberfest. Poured orangish, white head. Aroma is pine, body odor, grassy hops. Taste was bitter, earthy hops. malrubius (2986) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - SEP 23, 2016
Bottle from Meditrina. Light clear copper with lasting head and lace. Piney honey bready herbal aroma. Peachy apricot fruity honey sweetness with assertive piney herbal bitter long finish. Medium full sticky body bordering on cloying. Pretty decent if this were 1998. I just don’t have to be bludgeoned to pulp by my DIPAs these days.

Wow. Just wow. A lot of alcohol and hops and yet I can drink this easy. It's a damn good imperial IPA.

Ok, though bottled 07/07/16, I opened unexpectantly and was hoping for the best, still, after smelling and then tasting, yes, I shall proceed with the rest.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a bronzed to burnt amber color with a nice transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a nice pace. Quickly dissipating finger’s worth of white foamy head, messy lacing.
The aroma feels out some sweet citrus to bitter piney punchy bitter hoppiness. Sweet sticky malts lie underneath. Pleasant hop oils.
The flavor keeps everything from the aroma going like a race train running smooth and bittersweet on my tastebuds. Dry combined bittersweet aftertaste running into the finish, which is quite quick, (it’s a blink and you’ll miss that finish).
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a hidden sly sessionability about it. Carbonation feels good and displaces just the right amount of punchy bittersweet. Pure and dry.
Overall, now this was the DIPA I was waiting for, damn right, Knee Deep, there ya go, guys! Kosmokrator (849) - ITALY - AUG 21, 2016
Alla spina. Color biondo-aranciato, schiuma bianca soffice. Profumata e fruttata, una DIPA cremosa e "classica" amara ma ben equilibrata con quel caratteristico tocco caramellato che emerge tra i luppoli. maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - AUG 4, 2016
Bottle. Yay IPA day! Pours a hazy light amber color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose is a bit stale and grassy, which makes some sense with a 4/27 date on it. Taste is bitter and a bit dry, and almost ends up leaving you more parched. Not a fan of this one. tlind2 (1768) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 22, 2016
Bottle. Opaque amber color, rich off-white head. Sweet hop aroma. Strong, hoppy flavor with grapefruit. Full body, medium carbonation. Classic example of the style.
