22oz bottle. Rating #10. Clear medium golden pour with a nice white head. Sweet apple aroma, very malty with a little rye spice. Light flavor, smooth eith a nice little rye spice, it’s still a little too light for me. (1971) iowaherkeye (2703) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - MAR 18, 2012
22oz bomber, no date for $8.49 at OB Quik Stop a couple days ago. Clear golden with a small off-white head, low retention down to a thick ring. Sweet rye as well as some fruity sweet yeast esters (overripe peach and banana) and a tinge of earth. No pepper notes so far. Flavor follows suit with overripe fruit and moderate earthy rye sweetness. I can’t believe this is 8% ABV, masked incredibly well. Not a whole lot else going on, as far as I can tell. Dry finish, bitterness peaked at a 3-4. Medium body with light prickly carbonation. Didn’t seem like a saison to me--more like an overestered Belgian ale with some sweet rye. December 2012. 20 oz. bottle. Hazy orange brew with a white head. Aromas of grain, bread, yeast and malt. This one is a bit off and out of balance. Maybe that is why it’s retired now. ryanfolty (2579) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - SEP 27, 2011

Bottle poured into glass. Light in color, goldish hue with a orange tint. Aroma is somewhat like cereal, a tad wheaty with slight hints of fruits. Not really all that exciting but a half way decent beer.

Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a gloomy golden almost brass color with a small creation of head which eventually dies out forming an O-ring. The aroma has a grassy aroma of hops and a sweet balance of rye or sourdough bread and reminds me a lot of how an abbey tripel smells. The flavor comes across as spicy with a minor taste of rye and a grassy plant like finish, but other than that, this saison lacks substance and taste as though it is heavily watered down. beersearcher (2382) - Glendale, California, USA - JAN 23, 2012
I have only one really good Knee Deep beer. And this is my least favorite. A very caramely saison. Way to sweet before the spice kicks in. And the two just aren’t on the same page. Leaves a viscous taste on the top of the mouth like raisins. Tastes like a 1/2 quad / 1/2 dubbel to me. Arayaga2 (2201) - portland, Oregon, USA - APR 2, 2012
Light gold and hazy with a thin white head. Aroma is honey, lemon, and peppery hops. Taste is light biscuit with sweetness and slight sourness with a bit of hop bitterness. $5/22oz Goodgrief (2039) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - FEB 26, 2012
Crystal clear golden pour (unfiltered?). Not much of an aroma. Sweet fruity flavor with honeysuckle and a grainy rye finish. Tastes nothing at all like a saison. It wasn’t bad, just boring. maley1 (1298) - Calgary, CANADA - APR 21, 2012
Slightly cloudy yellow orange pour with small off white head. Aroma of rye malt, belgian yeast, spices and lemon citrus. Taste of rye malts, yeast, slightly spicy, lemon citrus, slightly dry finish. Perfect carbonation, perfect mouthfeel, incredibly easy to drink, ABV well hidden. Lots going on in this beer but everthing comes together perfect with no one thing overpowering the others. I loved this beer, cant believe its not getting higher ratings. Perfect beer for spicy foods.
