Barrel aged at the brewery. Aroma is strong of alcohol. Dark copper color. Flavor is delicious. The oak character is a bit harsh possibly on the tannins. Finish is actually clean. Much better than some barley wines.

bytemesis (9606) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUN 21, 2015
Tap. Pours hazy copper, medium off white head, some lacing. Aroma is surprisingly unhoppy, caramel, toffee. Flavor is medium sweet, malty, sharp bitterness with some pine. Medium body. Not bad, but not worth the boost. Dry hopping is either old or pretty damn ineffective.

brokensail (16696) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 10, 2015
On tap @ Knee Deep. Light copper pour with an off-white head. Citrusy nose of orange and tangerine. Slight vanilla, hazelnut, and lots of caramel aromas as well. Quite a bit of apricot, too. Sweet fruit dominated the palate. A lot of sugar, some vanilla, and big citrus rind. A nice tangy, citric quality. Pretty decent. High boost.

swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 16, 2015
bottle at Coles, Barleywine Contest 2015. One of the favorite beers but deemed a DIPA rather than a BW. orange pour, citrusy piney hops. Hop forward, big bitterness, very nice IIPA

Ferris (17769) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 13, 2015
Draft - Sweet caramel and some hoppy notes. Clear orange gold with a decent white head. Sweet caramel, light pine and orange notes. A little simple, but nice.

slowrunner77 (13368) - Reno, Nevada, USA - FEB 9, 2015
Not as much depth as I was hoping for, but a nice enough interplay between the aggressive hops and the sweet toasty caramel malt flavor and aroma.

oRos (1674) - sacramento, California, USA - NOV 6, 2014
On tap at capitol beer an taproom. Pours copper with white head. Taste is sweet an malty with a earth hop finish. Finishes sweet
