A beer true to the traditional style of IPA but with some contemporary elements. The beer is 5% abv which enables it to be enjoyed by the pint as well as in bottle.
The malt used is Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt, ideally suited for this style of beer.
The star of the show in an IPA should be the hops. Our IPA has a bitterness of 40 IBU which provides an invigorating bitterness hit and a refreshing aftertaste.
The hops used are New World hops which in general provide a more intense flavour and aroma than their European counterparts. The hops are added in three stages. The first addition is for bitterness and is added at the start of the boil, the second is for flavour and is added 5 minutes from the end of the boil and the third is added once the boil has finished and provides the hop aroma without the mouth drying effect of dry-hopping.

Good IPA, but not among the best. Has a nice arome, but lacks the aromas too balance the bitter aftertaste .

IPA tradition wasn’t American, but this is a flavoursome experiment. I tried a 330ml bottle, but this is on the list to try again.

Bottle from Morrison’s in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Pours with a decent head and hoppy aroma. Taste is good on hops and fairly well balanced but becomes a bit cloying after the first one. A reasonable example of a modern IPA but not up to American standards.

Bottle from a Morrisons in Glasgow. Amber in colour, with a decent, white, head. Pleasant pale ale, with some tropical fruit and citrus hops, a solid malt base and dryish, finish. Good.

330ml bottle. Aroma is malty with whisky and vanilla. The taste is not as accessible as some IPAs but quite rewarding. More sweet than bitter, slightly astringent and with modest hopping. Good IPA.

Cask at the 22nd Watford beer festival, Watford, Herts. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, floral, citrus aroma. Tastes a little unbalanced to me, slightly hoppy, floral, vaguely fruity, not much happening here.

Cask gravity at the 2016 Watford beer festival 4/11/2016. A very clear amber orange coloured pour with a loose white head. Aroma is a but sweaty, feet, hops, vague lemon, hint of vinegar tang. Flavour is composed of semi sweet burnt toffee malts, orange, sticky sweaty hop, caramel. Palate is semi sweet, viscous sticky hop and a little solvent in the finish. Not good.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2017 330ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a white head. Big on the biscuit and malt aromas. Taste is bready, biscuit malts and leads into a dry grapefruit, orange bitterness. Decent traditional IPA.

Although the breweries blurb paints the scene the beer fails to deliver the hop. Little aroma, little zing. What you get is malty beer. May be its been in the bottle too long.

RasmusOtt (2913) - Aarhus, DENMARK - JUN 22, 2015
Pours hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma of grassy hops, bread crust, some citrus, weak sweet malts and some herbs. The taste is bitter and grainy with notes of crisp hops, citrus and some herbs. Decent and refreshing hoppy beer.

nihtila (4005) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 30, 2015
Bottle at home. Pours clear golden. Nose toffee, resin, sweet, malts. Taste is fruits, citrus, malts, sweet toffee.
