Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of brettanomycs, fruit, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with acidic notes of brettanomyces and lacto, as well as notes of malt, fruits, bread, and caramel, leading to a dry lightly sour finish. Nice.

(Koelschip Winterbier) Bottle 300ml at home, poured into a tulip glass. BBD 12/14 ABV 7% Pours a deep brown coloured beer, with a very murky body, and a small brown head, thin, with low retention, leaving minimal lacing on the glass. Sweet aroma, caramel, but also nice red grapes and wine notes, molasses. Good taste too, a bit of the alcohol present, some caramel, brown sugars, wine notes, well I’ll be damned, this one is more than decent. Medium body, a warming feeling on the body, soft carbonation. As I said more than a decent beer, yesterday I had their abomination of bock beer and today this little gem, what a difference!

Bottle at the Gouda Winterbier fest, 2014. Poured a clear dark brown with a round light tan head. The aroma is rich overripe fruit, malt, marmite yeast. The flavour is strong bitter with a rich fruity alcoholic yeast palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. It’s kinda strange that I liked this one a whole lot more than some of my fellow raters at the same fest!

Benzai (16687) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JAN 19, 2014
Sampled @ PWBF Gouda 2014. Dark brown color, no head. Smell and taste vegetables, animal food, infected and just horrible. Yuk.

Clear dark amber color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, berry, red wine. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate acidic with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091114]

KimJohansen (10497) - Frederiksberg C, DENMARK - NOV 14, 2009
Hazy dark amber with a tiny beige head. Aroma had lacto, roasted malt and berries. Flavour was sour and had lacto, roasted malt and again sourish berries. Finished sour. Might not be intended but came out nice as a flemish red.
