On tap during zoigl fest, Schoilmichl stube in October, 2009: Cloudy deep yellow. Persistent and creamy white foam. Gorgeous nectarlike aromas laced with sherbet, honeysuckle, pineapple, vanilla. Touches of gum and baked apples. Soft, tight carbonation. Remarkably rich and cleanly malty with a delectable banana cream pie caress kissed with vibrant vanilla and equally luscious pineapple. Divine cream pie character, with a mesmerizing balance between a vanilla wafer-maltiness, custard and all. Squeaky-clean attenuation coupled with finely detailed toasted grains allows for a baked-apple slickness to exude without tarnishing the body’s wonderful structure. Vague scratch of minerals imparts light grip to reinforce the remarkably clean malt foundation. Mild notes of gum and dough lend more depth and balance. Finishes expertly balanced with honeysuckle, sherbet, toasted crackers and pineapple. Some truly magical estery interplay here. It’s unfortunate that apparently there have been some lackluster batches of this, because this particular batch was profoundly flawless and quaffable. A very characterful rendition.
The head is robust. It smells sweet, wheat. The taste is sweet, wheat, yeasty, maybe a bit to sweet. A not so easy drinkable and very sweet wheat beer! -/10/8/8/-/8 motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - JUN 11, 2012
