Tiny white head. Clear light amber color. A worty aroma with munich malts. Sweet malty taste with a firm bitterness. Finish hard and a little astringent.

My Bottom Line:
Herbal hops develops some orange accents in this slender, professional Zoiglbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the translucent gold-hued amber.
-Malts offer but a thin slice of toast.
-Mild sulfur enhances the hoppiness.
-Drinkability is optimal.
-There isn’t much rusticity in this one. It tastes like lots of other well-made Landbier.

Okt. - The most indistinctly drinkable of all drinkable Neugaus Zoigls, neither sweet-lieblich and bready like Schoilmichl, nor remarkably wild like Bahler: good, flowery hop bitterness in a deep yellow body, young chthonic malt base with some proteins in suspension. Quite lovely and sessionable in its own right on any other day than this open Zoigltag.

Draught at Teicher in Neuhaus, Nov. 2012: Light orange. Quick foam leaves behind a wispy halo. Soft aromas of poundcake, earthy yeast, vanilla cookie and delicate hop spice. Faintly doughy, as well. Firm, loose carbonation. Thinnish, watery body. Hop forward and pleasantly floral and sprucelike with yeasty banana-tinged fruitiness kissed with riper peach esters. Comes off as a bit underfermented/worty, though it doesn’t suffer from being overly sweet. Finishes dryish, subtly doughy and greenly hoppy with a sulfury yeast bite interwoven with a fruity peach twang and ongoing floral hops. Tastes like it could have been left to cold-ferment for another week since it’s a tad young-tasting, as can sometimes be the case with zoiglbier. Has some acids that seem unripe and the malt is not as deep and full as I’d prefer, but overall it’s decent enough, even if it could be more characterful. Just wasn’t able to enjoy this as much as Mikey.

hazed glowing amber honey body with a foamy and rocky white head. mildly sweet honey malt and herbal / grassy hops in the nose.smooth and velvety texture with enjoyably balanced malt sweetness and mild yeastiness / pastiness. medium-low hop bitterness with nice layers of fruit nectar and spice from the German hops. chewy, frothy, smooth carbonation texture with a full body. a nice one but I have to make two points: 1, the mild flavor is almost forgettable the instant it’s consumed and 2, there’s a light but ever-growing eggshell and bread crust combination in the finish. otherwise, a pretty enjoyable zoigl, very traditional, but not doing anything "wow" for me. faintly hazed golden honey colored body with a fine-bubbled pure white head. dried flower petal yeast esters and minerallic honey in the nose. medium bitterness, well-rounded and full body, oily and wet texture. zesty, prickly, green hops, more green than other zoiglbier. lovely stuff, easily drinkable and enjoyable. Light light unclear medium orange yellow colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, fruity. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, minerael, malty, dry, limestone - chalk. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120406]

on tap at zoigl tag in 2009 and 2010. beautiful stuff - clearish golden with a firm off-white head; aroma of passionfruit vine, pollen and hints of rye; lightly grassy, slightly chalky, some nice hints of aloe vera and a good hit of bitterness; one of the best zoigls

Tap. Pretty orange golden, lacing offwhite cream. Earthy grass aroma. Nice apple and tangerine fruit base, salt and clay, Strawberries retronasal. Chewy dry mouthfeel. Grass aftertaste. Favorite Neuhaus Zoigl so far.
