Our brewers wanted to make a beer that went down easy after a day out on the water. Big Wave Golden Ale is just the ticket. Big Wave is a lighter bodied golden ale with a tropical hop aroma and flavor – a smooth, easy drinking refreshing ale. The use of caramel malt contributes to the golden hue of this beer and our special blend of hops provides bright quenching finish. 10.3°

Malts: Pale (Premium 2-Row), Caramel
Hops: Galaxy, Citra

Bottle: Golden, a bit unclear, small and slowly collapsing white head with a little lace; pretty perfumed aroma of exotic fruits; thin MF; moderate bitter-sweet flavour; slightly lingering exotic-fruity and mildly bitter finish. Too exotic, presumably suitable for Beach Boys…

Bottled. Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, mildly grainy and bready malts. Flavour is quite similar, with a nice herbal touch to the hoppiness as well. Fresh, but a bit simplistic and boring.

Bottle, secret stash at u2p. Clear pale body with no head at all, almost tea like. Aroma has high malty sweetness, grainy background. Taste has high grainy sweetness, low earthy carbonation. Pretty sweet. Body is full, oily, low carbonation.

As an easy-drinking Golden Ale for a warm afternoon, Big Wave does its job just fine. However, I was left wanting just a bit more from it. The hops are nice. I’d like them to be more crisp, but the fruity flavor they impart is quite good. There’s a solid tropical grapefruit note. The brew’s malt is smooth and refreshing, too. In the end, I mainly wanted a fuller body from this brew. That was the main thing I couldn’t get over. Overall, though, Big Wave is an above average ale. I just expected somewhat better results from Kona.

Bottle. Pours golden with a medium white head. Smell is strong with yeast and malts. Taste is bland and not very nice. Some malts and hops. Palate is very thin and doesn’t fill the mouth. Overall a very boring beer. Tastes like a boring lager beer.

Bottle: Poured a light golden color with ample carbonation. The aroma is tropical fruit - grapefruit, lemon and grass. The taste was well balanced and the finish was light and clean.

Classic American golden ale. Nothing too special, a good intro to craft beer. And from Hawaii!!!

One of my favorite beers, the golden color and aroma makes this beer stand out.

Easy to drink. Nice taste. Works best with lazy Sunday, lying on couch with watching ESPN ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A very mildly hazy yellow body with a minimal white head. Nose has mild citrus notes and some hay. Taste is quite bitter with a dry, crisp finish. Medium carbonation and palate. A pleasant light beer for hot days.
