Sample bottle, mainland brewed. Golden color, with a little amber in the center, and a sudsy head. Malty nose is a bit dry for a blond ale. Taste is of a beer that has fermented out just a little bit more, so it’s not as sweet as too many light ales are. This bottle has sat around for a while, but it’s held up nicely, and retains a nice prickly mouthful of bubbles.

Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is tropical and floral. Taste is rounded malty, a bit sweet, with some tropical fruit and hints of citrus. Pilsner malt and a touch of canned corn.

Had a bit of the buttery malt taste that you find in many golden ales. Not a big fan of this one.

Gangstergafje (1273) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - NOV 3, 2017
03-11-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Albert Heijn supermarket, Capelle aan den IJssel, The Netherlands). The looks of the beer are very nice. It has a nice tropical look. The golden yellow color shines bright in the sun. The beer has a slight haziness. Nice bubbles can be seen rising towards the top of the glass. On top of the beer a average layer of rather rough white foam is formed. Foam retention is low. After a rather long while, only a thin drape and lacing on the glass are left. I need to state that I have a massive cold, so maybe I sense the taste and smell a bit weaker than they are. The smell of the beer is nice. It is nice and tropical. But, I smell a tiny hint of chloride...not in an annoying way though, it somehow suits the tropical aromas. I smell some nice sweet malts, with a slight bready edge. The hops are nice. They are not extremely special, but just nice and tropical, easy on the nose. I smell some nice tropical hops, with hints of citrus, lemon zest and some orange. The hops also offer a nice floral bouquet. Nice, tropical and gentle. The taste of the beer is also very nice. The beer has a nice maltiness. Especially in the back of the mouth, the beer provides a soft, slightly salty round balanced flavour. This suits the sweetness of the malts, that is more in the front of the beer. The hops give some floral flavours, but also some citrus notes. They are not extremely bitter, but give just that nice bitter balance for the sweet malts. This results in a very well balanced beer, that is very soft and gentle. The palate is quite nice. The beer has a medium body, and has a rather soft, round and gentle texture. Carbanion is medium high. The finish of the beer contains that lovely round maltiness, together with some tingling bitter hops. All in all, a very nice beer. Not to complex, not to rich, but smooth, easy drinking and relaxed, like you diserve after a day of surfing in Hawaii.

35,5cl bottle purchased @ Albert Heijn. Belle robe dorée avec un nez assez agréable de mangue. Malgré sa légèreté, cette bière propose des arômes de fruits tropicaux bien sympathiques.

Very good beer overall. This actually is a niche beer to me-- at 4.4%ABV and around 132 calories, I consider this a light beer but it is indeed a little heavier than the typical light beers like Bud Light, Coors Light, Bud Select, etc. Most importantly, it is light BUT actually has good flavor, much better than the aforementioned brands. Very light but tasty hops come in at the end of the mouthful, and is nicely carbonated and refreshing. This might be the best alternative to Macro Brew light beers out on the market.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2017 A bit watery. Easy to drink, not unpleasant, but not much to really write home about. A tad flavourless
