Served on tap at the Marina Brewpub. The appearance is a medium deep brown, slightly translucent. The flavors and aromas are rich with roasted malts, nice roasted coffee and chocolate tones. On tap at brewpub in Kona - Poured dark brown color with thin beige head.
Aroma - chocolate malt, roasted nuts and hint of coffee. I also detected musty basement aroma.
Flavor - Initial thought was smooth porter, nice balance of the sweet chocolate malt and hops. I also liked the nutty flavor, almost tasted like almonds or macadamia nuts.
Palate - medium bodied with average carbonation. Finish is kinda bitter and has this burnt coffee taste right at the end!
Overall - Not a top 5 Porter but still a good showing. Great flavor but finish ruined it a bit for me!!

UPDATED: APR 2, 2009 On tap at Kona Koko Marina. Pours almost black with a decent tan head. Mostly roasted malt in the nose, with hints of chocolate and coffee coming through a little more in the taste. Mouthfeel is not bad. Nice bitter coffee finish.
