I had this beer on tap at the brewery while I was on vacation there. This beer has a dark ruby color through which very little sunlight is able to penetrate. There are very strong roasted and chocolate aromas. This is a beer that draws you in once you smell it. The flavor is heavily roasted but with good hop balance for the style. It has a medium body. Overall, this is one of my favorite Kona brews. Excellent drinkability. hopdog (13191) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 10, 2007
On tap at the Kona Brew Pub on Oahu. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, vey light coffee and light vanilla cream. Tastes of roastiness, coffee, and chocolate. Lacing left on the glass. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - AUG 23, 2007

Sampled on tap at the brewery in Kona, Hawaii. A black, dark color with a slight ruby red tint, and a small, short, white head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee with some roasty malt. Taste is mostly sweet, some coffee tones too. The beer has a wet and thin body with low carbonation and some tingle on the tongue; slight dryness and bitterness at the end.

Draft at the brewery in company of alohac and fordest. Good times. Deep dark chocolate flavors with hint of hops and coffee. Verly little alcohol presence. Nothing to exciting but pretty good. marchcow (664) - Coralville, Iowa, USA - MAY 29, 2007

Draft at the Oahu brewpub. Very dark with a decent head. Aromas of coffee and roastiness. Similar flavors with some dust and more roasted malts. Pretty good. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - MAR 19, 2007
This porter pours a deep black color with some reddish highlights from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized tan foamy head. Aroma is malty and roasty, some chocolate and a touch sweet. A medium bodied porter, Malts are chocolate and coffee, touch of sweet malt and vanilla flavors. Hops are slightly earthy. Nice balance. Good roasty and chocolate malts. Perhaps a touch watery, Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. kseecs16 (1216) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - NOV 30, 2006
On tap at the brewpub 11/03/2006. Opaque dark brown with a thing light-brown head, evident lacing. Aroma was spot on, char, dark chocolate roast characteristics. Mild dry roast flavor dominates this nicely sweet porter. Smooth, rich with a pleasant lingering bitterness. Solid.
