I had this beer on tap at the brewery while I was on vacation there. This beer has a dark ruby color through which very little sunlight is able to penetrate. There are very strong roasted and chocolate aromas. This is a beer that draws you in once you smell it. The flavor is heavily roasted but with good hop balance for the style. It has a medium body. Overall, this is one of my favorite Kona brews. Excellent drinkability. Wagney (2) - Hawaii, USA - MAR 20, 2009 does not count
I liked this Porter, and hey at happy hour only $3.00 a pint...went down with a nice pork sandwich with a light BBQ sauce made with the porter... Braudog (6717) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - OCT 4, 2003
Black as night with a sticky consistency. Coffee, toffee, smoky and slightly bittered. A weird fit in Hawaii, but a decent smoky porter for those who like them. zoucrew102 (1880) - - NOV 2, 2013
Tap at Kona Brewpub Honolulu. Roasted malt and nutty aroma with coffee and chocolate notes. Pours black with a light brown head and excellent lacing. Nutty and roasted malt flavors to start. Finishes very smooth with subtle coffee notes and a lot of chocolate that lingers on the palate.

My favorite of all the Kona Brews. Deep, dark brown color, rich flavor and smooth finish.

Draft at Marina Pub. Delicious! Pours a shinny black with a nice fizzy light tan head. Aroma is dry, ashy, round, similar to Deschutes, rich smokey nutty enticing, piney hoppy, super hoppy, excellent woody-like notes. Flavor follows, delicious, dry, lightly round, ashy, piney, hoppy, nutty, bit of citrus, similar to Deschutes, bit of dry wood, black coffee towards the finish, nice bitterness in the finish, lingering ash, light sweetness, spruce. Dry but perfect sweetness in the body, soft carbonation, works so well. Love it! msante79 (2225) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2008

From a draft pour at the brewpub in Kailua Kona, Big Island of Hawaii. Came in the glass black with a light tan head. Nose of roasted malts with chocolate and coffee. Medium body and a smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is big on chocolate and the coffee follows into a nice bitterness. Very nice.
