On tap at Koko Marina. This was my favorite beer at the brewpub, and the best hefeweizen I think I’ve ever tried. Poured a hazy yellow with a one finger white head. Aroma of citrus and wheat. Flavor had the characteristic banana/clove flavor, balanced with a lot of citrus fruit flavors. Great beer. jeremytoni (3079) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - OCT 30, 2008
From the tap at the Koko Marina brewpub, poured a hazy golden color with a small head. Great fruity refreshing flavor with a quick finish. shrubber85 (11452) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - OCT 8, 2008
Tap. Sweet banana/orange and wheat malt aroma. Cloudy yellow-amber color with small head. Banana/orange and wheat malt flavor. Very well made - a very good Hefe. bobaidan (530) - Southington, Connecticut, USA - JUL 9, 2008
On tap at the brewery. Pours murky yellow with a big head. Aroma is wheat, banana and a hint of spice. Mouthfeel is lively with lots of carbonation. Flavor is much like the aroma. This is a very good traditional German Hefe. elihapa (1554) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - JUL 7, 2008
On tap, Koko Marina. Poured a murky pale yellow. Light aroma of wheat and malt. Flavor of spices, banana, and wheat. Body is medium-thick, nice and bold. Enjoyable, overall.

A good German Hef here. I was expecting it to be more in the American style without the bold yeast flavors. I was pleasantly surprised when I found the banana/clove flavors were quite apparent. Good solid refreshing Hef here. SQNfan (591) - Wheaton, Illinois, USA - MAY 7, 2008
Draft at the brewpub in Honolulu. Cloudy deep yellow in color with a nice thick white head. The aromas were of yeast, citrus and banana with a touch of 5-spice. The palate had nice concentration and depth without coming off heavy. Overall, this was a nice surprise and one that I would definitely order again. estoppel (1028) - Buffalo, New York, USA - APR 24, 2008
Draft at the brewpub. Slightly hazy golden body, white head with good lacing, banana/clove nose. Finally, a US hefe that actually tastes the way a hefe should taste. Good banana/clove/citrus balance with finishing wheatiness. ApisAles (1575) - Greenbelt, Maryland, USA - FEB 10, 2008
Nice little pub Heffe. Had it at the brewery on Kona. Went great with their fabulous pizza. Pretty typical banana flavors and hazy color. Very smooth and easy drinking. Nice beer. CubsClapp (13) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JAN 31, 2008
Just had a sampler at the Kona Brewery, but enjoyed it very much. It’s your traditional German Hefeweizen with the banana taste. It’s remarkably similar to Flying Dog In Heat Wheat, and Ram/Big Horn Brewing’s Hefeweizen. You might not be blown away, but if you like a nice hef, you can’t go wrong.
