Lavaman Red Ale is a malty, red ale with strong caramel notes and a subtle chocolate malt flavor. The pronounced maltiness is balanced by the delicate blend of Pacific Northwest hops resulting in a smooth, full-bodied beer.

A middle of the road average red ale, maltier than most, almost a scotch ale. Decent for what it is. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from a mix pack. Good bit of spicy caramel to the nose with some grains to it. Taste is a bit bitter, and seems like a fair amount of hops to it. Fine, but nothing special.

A decent red, but nothing special. Pours a nice clear Amber. Smells a bit of nuts. Taste is basic red, a little nutty with a bit of hops in the finish. Had on tap at the taproom on Oahu.

Solid amber. Aroma of sweet bread up front. Nice malty richness. Balance in bitterness does the job. Ok session beer.

Tap at Annie’s a wonderful burger joint in Kona. Amber pour unsurprisingly. Nose is caramel and malt. Tastes of malt, light caramel, some faint hop citrus, paper, and berry. Mild bodied. Smooth finish.

Draught at the Kona Brewing Co, Hawaii Kai, HI. Clear mahogany color with a small light tan head. Caramel sweetness, nougat, dark maltiness and sweetness in the aroma. The flavor is sweet caramel malt, some hops, chocolate and nougat. Quite nice! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Suitably red pour with a thin off-white head. Lots of caramel with some fruit and biscuit. Not my favorite Kona.

beertholomeus (1814) - California, USA - MAY 24, 2015
Pours a burnt red color with a white head. Caramel, toast, floral, biscuit and earthy aroma and flavors. Medium body and carbonation with a floral and caramel finish.
