Dark caramel color. Thick white ring head. Aroma is a bit like scotch. Its incredibly smooth on the palate. I would guess 6% but at 12.5% thats a testament to the quality of brewing. Evenly spaced white ring lace.

Draft sampler at brewery, dark amber beer, no head. Aroma is citrus, raisin, malt. Taste is raisin, spice, spruce, citrus. Palate is rich and smooth carbonation subdued. Not too sweet, this is a nice, hoppy barleywine.

Burnt sugar aromas in the nose; sweet rich mouth feel; good barley wine reminds me of Sierra Nevada big foot

Auburn brown with a barely there head. Caramel, dark fruits, a bit of spice, lots of hints of interesting things swirling around in there. Why am I trying to figure out what they are instead of just watching the fire dance on the tiki torch?

This was a drsft pour at the Brewpub in Kailua Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. In the glass came a red with a tan head. Nose of rich caramel malts and some citrus and ripe fruit. Alcohol for sure. Medium in body and a very alcoholic mouthfeel. Flavor is fruity with s good dose of citrus hops. Finish is bitter and again alcohol dominates. Good barley wine except I could have done with a bit less alcohol as you might have guessed.

"more of the english style...more malt, less hops, very dark. nice balance here, and the alcohol presence asserts itself. overall, a good, if not spactacular barleywine."

On tap at the Big Island pub. Clear copper/red with a slight tan head. Aroma is slight pine, deep raisin/date barley wine, and perhaps some caramel/toffee through the finish. Taste is a touch of hops up front followed by a thick sweet malt, raisin barleywine. Bit of hops on the finish. Solid representation of the style.
