12 oz, bottled Aug 27, 08. Opaque black with a half-inch creamy head that deposits sugary lace. Aroma of fresh roasted coffee bean, slightly tempered with some dark brown sugar. Flavor is almost overpowering coffee at first, then some light caramel and marshmallow come to the rescue, leaving a nearly-balanced coffee and charred wood aftertaste. Medium body is a little watery (in a good way), smooth and roasty-dry. This is not my favorite porter, but I give it an extra tenth on "overall" for being exactly what it set out to be: a good Kona coffee-flavored beer.

Dark black beer, thin tan head. Good lacing. Buttey coffee aroma. Taste is like milk, sugar and loads of good coffee, and I don’t even drink coffee. Mouthfeel starts out smooth but finishes a lttle rough. Consistency is medium/thin. Finish has a lot of coffee.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2011 SDFOB-2008. Draft. Smooth porter. Very good coffee flavors at the start and middle. Finish is a little off. A good drinking beer. Have had this a many times on trips to Hawaii. When on draft the beer is really nice. A great medium roast Kona coffee, roasted malts, chocolate. Medium bodied with a really creamy mouth.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2008 Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a bubbly, beige head. Smell: Coffee-scented nose with notes of dark malts, unsweetened chocolate, and a hint of dark caramel. Taste: Sweetened Breakfast Blend coffee with traces of chocolate and caramel. Not too terribly much in the way of hops or bitterness, but this serves to allow the coffee flavor to rest leisurely on the palate. Chocolate dosed coffee in the finish. Mouthfeel: Just barely medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A surprising, subtly tasty treat with a reasonably, sensible ABV. Ill have another, please.

Pours nearly black with a ruby hue and a clingy tan head. Obvious aroma of coffee with roasted, vanilla, leather and nutty notes. A bit thin in body with cocoa and coffee flavors. A little chalky with a little DMS. A little lackluster.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2013 12oz from Sams, Durham. Dark, thick pour with a substantive body and moderate head. Huge roasted malts and coffee in the nose, exactly my hopes in picking up this beer for the first time. No overpowering bitterness, but just a deep flavor thats well suited to the abundant malting and gives this beer depth (along with a killer finish). Ill be getting this again, for sure.

Fairly solid brown pour, off whitish head. Coffee aromas. Coffee flavors, not overpowering. Some roast malt, medium/light bodied. Pretty straight forward, pretty good and drinkable porter. A good take on a coffee style beer usually reserved for the stouts. For a brewer that has some macro style to it’s other brews, this one is just unique enough. Not real complex, but definetely worth a try.

Perfect example of a coffee bomb. Pours dark, has a huge coffee flavor and mouthfeel, and finishes very soft. It is nice ice cold or after sitting for a bit.

Pours a brownish/black coffee colored, with a small 1/8 inch head. Smells of beautiful roasted coffee dominates the malts. First sip is pure coffee heaven. Fairly light bodied, carbonated well. If you like coffee and coffee infused beers, you will not be disappointed with this fine beer from out 50th State.
