12oz bottle, courtesy of a trade from a while ago. Thanks! Pours a dark, clear chocolate-brown color; fizzy light-tan head with decent retention and medium-bubbled lacing. Lots of watery coffee grounds in the aroma; not much else. Medium mouthfeel: slightly watery body, mixed with decently roasted coffee grounds (though still a bit green / vegetal), roasted malts, and just a touch of chocolate, though not enough of the latter two to add any fullness or potent creaminess to the palate; wet coffee, with a bit of porter. Medium finish: dough, roasted malts, and chocolate. 19Ei8hty (1166) - Washington, USA - FEB 29, 2008
Lots of coffee in tha aroma. Thin and weak malt punctuated by a smooth, lightly roasted coffee flavor but is a little too sour with a weird spice. puzzl (3264) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 24, 2008
Bottle from someone. Deep brown, filtered pour with little head. Aroma is light chocolate, heavy roast, a milky body. Has a touch of sweetness in the flavor. Decent enough, but a little too sweet, with carbonation a bit too fizzy. bdigital (659) - Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 24, 2008
Bottle: Courtesy beerlando. Pours a deep brown color with no head. Has a very smooth and pleasant coffee aroma contrary to some brews that have an almost burnt coffee aroma. Chocolate and roasted malts are also there. Although it’s somewhat lacking in body, this makes up for it in the taste. Fine coffee-based flavor also contains notes of mild dark chocolate and malt. Good stuff. douglas88 (9690) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 18, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thin light brown head. The aroma is totally coffee, but not strong. The flavor is mostly a rich dark coffee with some bitterness. Really so much like a good coffee that they should sell this at Starbucks. I’m more of a tea drinker, but still this was good.

Finally was able to score a 6 pack of this at Knightly Spirits, since for whatever reason this never made it to Tampa. Dark chocolate brown body with a two finger thick light brown head. Nice retention and some excellent sheet lacing. Nose is pure coffee at first, but reveals a backing of chocolate, malts, roasty tones and some bitterness from the hops. But mostly this is Hawai’ian coffee, and it smells delicious. Tastes just as good, a nice blending of all of the different components. I love how the Kona coffee is the star of the show, but at the same time isn’t overpowering and melds with everything else that is going on here. Medium bodied but super creamy and easy to chug. Finish is coffee, some chocolate and roast, then more coffee for the duration of the super long ending. One of my favorite porters, and as easy as most of the 6 pack went down, supremely sessionable. Great beer. PWalk (338) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 15, 2008
I saw a six pack in one of the ABC Stores littered all around Waikiki and picked it up. Enjoyed a bottle on the beach and found it big on the Kona coffee flavor with some malt to it as well. Aftertaste is yummy with a substantial bit of coffee remaining behind. Smooth porter. mar (5445) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 13, 2008
black pour with a tiny bit of creamy froth on the sides. huge coffee notes with a little bit of malts as well. nice on the palate for a porter and a damn good coffee taste. Phil (181) - Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 12, 2008
random scoop in great mall, milipitas. random evening, in arcades, and this ws the saving grace of their beer selection. a moderate body, which was a nice change to the thick porters that i have experienced recently. great coffee notes, the aroma was so good. and nice to have a 5% beer for a change!?? good looking beer. apshah99 (147) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 7, 2008
Thin head, roasted malty coffee aroma. Very nice toasted chocolate taste, with caramel coffee finish, very drinkable. Too thin though, almost reminds me of good coffee brewed without enough grounds, body is too light. Nice beer, but not one I’ll rush out to buy again.
