Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editors Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

looks nice, hazy frosted yellow almost amber head looks nice and dies fast leaving a lot of lace. aroma is slightly metalic with some citrius notes light grain and perhaps some far of touch of hops. smooth wheat beer, and much less fruit than expected. yes its light, perhaps its a chick beer, but no doubt well done. a touch of passion fruit is apparent but not much more

This is beer? On tap at the brewery in Kona. This is carbonated passion fruit juice. I like passion fruit a lot so this is a good thing. But I really wouldnt call this a beer. Good nonetheless.

12oz bottle from Willow Bend Liquors. Pours a semi-clear, lemon-yellow with a one finger white head that diminishes quite rapidly with minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma is strongly of fresh, ripe fruit with more subtle notes of bread, yeast, banana, and faint spice. Taste is also strongly of ripe tropical fruit with a somewhat watery mouthfeel. Notes of sour ripe fruit come through as the beer warms. Finish is quick and watery. A drinkable beer that would be good for the beach.

12oz bottle. hazy pale yellow pour with medium quick to dissipate head. mild aroma of citrus, wheat and yeast. taste of tropical fruit and wheat. then lemon on the finish. kinda thin palate. a little bland for my tastes.

2008 Bottle - Decent colour, aroma could go one of two ways, either a faint tropical fruit, or a scrotum that hasnt been washed recently, flavour follows pretty closely, slight grain, no bitterness to speak of, light malts, not a good wheat or fruit beer, yet another "meh" from the folks at Kona...

A pretty nice wheat beer that is nicely touched with passion fruit. A very drinkable beer with a nice nose. Well worth a try.

Bottle. Pours a clear light orange with a small white head. The aroma is very fruity and wheat filled, that passion fruit gives it a very nice aspect. The taste is very much like a good hefe, but with a huge fruit presence that I really enjoyed. The passion fruit tastes quite natural and is not overly strong. I for one quite enjoyed this one on a very hot day. Nice.

Appearance: Clear, pale yellow body with a very thin ring of white bubbles. Smell: Well, you got your passion fruit, but thats about it. Taste: Light wheat malt and sweetness, then its pretty much all passion fruit thats only interrupted by a faint, floral hop character and bitterness. Maybe one has to be throwing it back in Hawaii to truly enjoy this one. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Drinkability: I dont know about the rest of you, but I could most definitely use a heft to the underlying wheat beer. As it stands, its a bit one-dimensional and one-bottle-thats-it-al. Im happy unclemattie really like it, though!

Wow, this is horrible! Hazy golden with a small fading head. Aroma is mostly wheaty/minty with a vague tropical fruitiness. A touch of spiciness. Goes downhill fast once you drink it however, with a sharp acidic twang, like bad crotch. Empty finish but with a lingering grossness. Wow, and I got 5 more of these. I hope my neighbor likes it.

Pale straw yellow. Foam dissapears to absolutely nothing and no carbonation makes this beer resemble apple juice. Bready smell but also a soapy aroma with bannana as well. A sweet tasting beer with a wheat feel and a pleasant hop bite. Palate is even and pleasant. Not a total package but taste of this beer make up for its crummy appearance.
