Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editors Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Tap at BJs, Plano, TX location.
Pours a weak, thin, and uninspired yellow with an aroma of freshly made plastic and floral skunk. Flavor is undiluted passion fruit juice and plastic. Nice mouthfeel. Different, but kind of refreshing.

very hazy gold with a small frothy white head. wheaty of aroma with a definite sweet fruity character. flavors of a crisp grainy wheat beer with a nice authentic tropical passion fruit flavor. i liked this one.

Sweet Hurricane aroma with some off wheat musk, especially as you first open the bottle. Lightly hazy pear gold, nice label and cap. Lightly briny, fruity, underbittered, very desperately in need of a lemon or lime. Not sweet. Medium to medium light body. No glaring flaws, except for blandness, but if youre looking for a better wheat at a similar pricepoint, then go with Sam Adams Spring, Leinenkugels Sunshine or just plain old Blue Moon.

from bottle. Pours a pale, slightly opaque color with a small head. Smells of passion fruit. Flavor is weak, except for a weak passion fruit. This is no doubt a fun beer, but it is altogether weak, and the flavors not well blended.13. Magic Hat #9 (sampled multiple times. Flavor is indescript, but not in a good way. Muddy, maybe apricot, light malts, nothing too complex.

clear golden color. aroma of sour apple cider, and cheap white wine. Flavour is slightly sour, and odd. I dont taste passionfruit, its a sour wheat flavour, wow, this is odd. Its a quenching summer beer, but an odd one.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark golden color with a thin white head. Aroma is reminiscent of grapefruit. Taste has a nice wheat base thats accented by a bitter fruit presence. Not bad.

12 oz bottle. So I had to mow my friends lawn, the grass being about 1.5 ft tall. Even though the moving started at 8am, it was already 75 degrees quickly working its way up into the 90s. Im done, still with grass on my legs terribly in need of some liquid refreshment. Hmmm...stuck the hand into the beer fridge, grabbed a porter...no. Grabbed a wee heavy....no. Grabbed a Wailua wheat, ding ding ding...its hot, Im sweaty and the beer is cold and golden. Pours a golden with a weak head, Smells a lot like a white sangria I had once, fruity, citrus and a bit tart. Tastes, pretty good, not great, but not bad. It hit the spot for chilling me down a bit. Easily sliding down my throat and leaves a sweet aftertaste. Interesting beer, its worth a try for the fruity alone.

Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours gold to straw with weak white head. It has a big fruity aroma with lots of juiciness. So this is what passion fruit smells like. Doesnt smell much different than a fruit drink. The taste is the same with tropical fruit sweetness and some tart fruitiness. I get almost no base beer in there. This was supposed to be a wheat beer or something?

Draft at the brewpub in Honolulu. Light yellow in color with a thin white head of medium sized bubbles. The nose showed off passion fruit, citrus and wheat. The aromas were quite nice, especially with the passion fruit twist but I wish they were more powerful. The palate was also a bit weak but really nice on a warm Hawaian day.

Ummm. If you know what a passion fruit tastes like, and like it, you have a shot at enjoying this beer. I had to smell it 5 or 6 times before I realized it was SUPPOSED to smell like that. 12 oz. bottle: pours a deep golden color, sort of a sweet tart assault on your nose. Starts of citrusy and sweet, then fades to a bittersweet dry finish characteristic of passion fruit.
