Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editors Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Comparing this to another fruit beer Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. I honestly think Konas Wailua Wheat meets my standards better. The aroma is not nearly has pungent as the Cherry Wheat. It is subtle but very inviting. The taste is mild but still distinctive. Its a pretty active beer with lots of bubbles. However this is definitely NOT an everyday beer.

Shocked to find this rated so poorly. This is a true american wheat ale thru-and-thru with a strong passionfruit character that really works well. Upfront the drink is all about a sweet-and-tart passionfruit essence with some vanilla undertones that slowly segues into a strong wheat malt backbone that is almost as good as they come for that grain. A little tartness on the finish. Really a unique drink; very refreshing and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

12 ounce bottle in Hoegaarden tumbler. Pale hazy urine color with quickly dissipating white head. Aroma like a rug that a dog has been pissing on its whole life. Flavor slightly worse than the aroma. Sweet and bitter funky thin flavor that sticks to the back of my throat. Gross.

12 oz bottle from Total Wine in Jacksonville. Pours a nice gold color with a thin head. Aroma is distinct fruit nose with a touch of grain. You can immediately taste the passion fruit. A bit weird, but a nice beer.

Pours with a rocky, white head with a slightly yellow body. Aroma is of wheat and passionfruit. Taste is pretty bittere. There is not nearly enough passionfruit in the taste.

this beer pours a golden yellow with a medium white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving a little lacing down the sides. The initial aromas are definitely passionfruit! It was a little odd. Almost smelled bad. The flavors are exactly the same as the smell, wheat and passionfruit. Not quite sure why, but this beer does not work. The flavors do not go well together at all... I was really expecting something exciting but this one missed the boat... Maybe there was too much pssionfruit? not sure but I wont get this one again. Cheers!

Purchased 12 oz bottle in ABC store in Honolulu Harbor (about 100 steps from the Aloha tower). Golden-green hazy body with a small white head. Smells sweet, fresh sugar, white wine, fresh fruit. Not much carbonation. Tate is fruity sweet, soft and tangy with mango, peach/passion fruit sweetness on top of wheat. The fruit component doesnt seem artificial or contrived. Good drinking beer with a soft palate. Underneath cap is a Hawaiian lesson = "lolo" = crazy.

If you like wine coolers(which I dont), then youll love this beer. Its got some taste to it, but maybe a little too much. The first sip you have will leave you with an interesting feeling. Too much passion fruit taste. It doesnt feel like a beer.
