Well I know good wheat beers and this isn’t one. Pours a somewhat hazy yellow like it doesn’t know whether it’s filtered or unfiltered. Good carbonation but it comes with a stale wheat malt flavor and something I can’t pick up - so it must be the passion fruit. Finish is dry for a wheat and uneven. Good for Kona it’s just a seasonal so they don’t subject their customers to this year round. sloth (2905) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - SEP 18, 2007
Small white head that fades quickly to a thin ring, sparse spotty lace. Hazy, pale gold color. Nose is lightly spicey, yeasty with faint citrus notes, minerally. Body is light, low carbonation, almost watery. Light toasted malts, lemony notes, faint grassiness, lightly metallic with some yeasty notes as well. Dry, light, crisp quick finish. Bottle procured in a trade with SDbruboy, thanks Cliff! JohnnyJ (5562) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 17, 2007
Pours a clear gold with small white head. Aroma of sweet passion fruit and grain. Flavors are pretty much the same. A bit artificial, but still refreshing. mtoast (336) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 16, 2007
12oz Bottle, 9/16/07. Pours a deep gold with foamy short lived foam that leaves very subtle lacing. Aroma is Ringwood yeast at it’s best, slightly tart and fruity, with underlying artificial passion fruit notes. Flavor is surprisingly balanced, figured this one to be a sugar bomb, but that fake fruitiness is just too damn annoying. PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 12, 2007
UPDATED: SEP 17, 2007 Rerate After working on the six pack over the weekend - it began to grow on me. Up a notch or two. Original 2.3 Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 12 oz bottle. Pours a medium golden, slightly murky, with a light, quickly fading white head. Faint, berry notes - some passion fruit comes through in the finish but overall is a bit muddled. Boring, lifeless mouthfeel. Overall, needs work.

bottle. hazed yellow with a thin white head that leaves a film on the surface. aroma- not very inviting, i just finished a 5 hour XXX trek across denver & this is not starting well. cooked green beans & something i guess is the passion fruit coming through? sharp dead flower scent. the taste made me die a little bit. this is horrible, probably the worst beer i’ve had this year. tangy chemicla fruit yeah, now i know not to buy a beer with passion fruit again at least. tastes like old ladies smell. that’s all i can take. i’ve got to go brush my teeth now.

Bottle: Vibrant straw, slight golden hue, minor haze, moderate foamy white head, decent lacing but nowhere like most Wheats, very light carbonation.   Fairly strong Passion Fruit nose, otherwise a bit of cereal and plant roots.   Minor Passion Fruit sweetness on the tongue, a little dry, a little mealy (cereals), and with a good bit of Cactus too.   Perhaps its a bit wheaty, but everything else dominates this beer.   Finishes fairly clean, lingering Passion Fruit, Cactus, and cereal.   Certainly interesting, and one of a kind, but I wished it would be more Wheat like and less fruity. pintsize (1042) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 29, 2007
Bottle. Nice crisp golden color. Smells very doughy and metallic. Interesting flavor, hints of orange and passion fruit. A little tart on the palate. Drinkable, but it tastes like it is going bad. Almost feels heavy on the palate too. Creamy for such a golden beer. lb4lb (2587) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 28, 2007
American wheats are some of my favorite beers, while passionfruit is easily one of my favorite fruits. Even so, this was a slight bit disappointing, but not terrible. Poured a light gold with a nice head in a weizen glass. Smell of passionfruit was light, but noticeable, along with a touch of wheat after a while. Very unique taste, with hints of passionfruit throughout, and definitely in the aftertaste. My bottle’s body was almost creamy, and less carbonated than I prefer, keeping it from being as crisp and refreshing as I like in the style. The passionfruit flavor gives the beer a slightly odd musty, tartness that I didn’t think meshed really well together also. Overall, I’m glad I got to try it, but won’t be rushing to get a 6 pack before it’s not available anymore. Ron (3959) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 25, 2007
My friend Chaz just came back from Maui and he brought back a few bottles of beer. I went over tonight for a tasting. This brew did not form much of a head, but the aroma was big on the passion fruit. This wheat was filled with the passion fruit flavor. It was not overpowering, but light and refreshing. I recomend this for warm weather drinking. Almost felt like I was in Hawaii.
