Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editors Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

12 oz bottle. Aroma is stale wheat and some fruit. Hazy gold body with white disipating head. Has a refreshing sweet and sour citrus flavor that isnt bad. Leaves friuty aftertaste like sour lemon on the palate. Not bad but have had lot worse.

Well, I took a chance on this one. It was a hot day, and I wanted a nice summer beer to drink whilst grilling my burgers. This beer pours a really light golden color. Aroma is really strong on the passion fruit. Body is really weak, and the wheat flavor is really light. Im actually surprised this is 5.4%. It tastes like its a 4% beer. Too watery, too light, and ultimately, too boring. Not terrible, but nothing really stands out.

Tasted from bottle. Aroma is a blend of sweet and sour malt forward, with a slight malt aroma and some citrusy tones that may be either unfermentables or hop flavors. Beer is a straw gold with a white, low-retained head. Flavor has a very grainy complexity, with a slightly sour, dry taste, similar to some dry ciders Ive had, more so than other american wheats. Finish is clean, with no residual sweetness or bittering. Body is medium, with a low carb texture. Overall, the beer is easy drinking, but just not exciting enough for my tastes. Its complex, as I expected, but the flavors in that complexity just dont stand out with any deliciousness.

Smells like passion fruit. No head, a little cloudy. Taste is quite wheaty and has plenty of fruit characters. Not for me, but my wife loves this fruit and liked the beer.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2007 Has this out of the bottle. It has a strange aroma to it. I get some regular wheat and a light white wine smell, which I assume is the passion fruit. Being that I dont think I have had a passion fruit before, that could be it. The beer pours a golden color, it is obviously a filtered wheat beer, with a head that you can hear disappear as soon as it is poured. The flavor is nice. A tart fruity flavor comes initially followed by a mild wheat the a nice sweet fruity finish. Very drinkable. Not alot of substance really. No lingering sweetness or hops. A thirst quencher. I actually like this beer quite a bit and this is not a style that I am too fond of. Check that... had one last night and it did look unfiltered. It was a hazy yellow/gold. My bad!

12 oz bottle: Pours a light gold with a fleeting thin white head. Aroma is dominated by peach and mango. The taste is less clear with some tropical fruit while this is sharp on the palate and almost too carbonated.

Pale gold, light white head and light lacing. Nose of musky, sweaty fermented fruit, underhopped and husky wheat. The flavor is thin, husky, light carbonation esters. The finish is husky too, spicy tart rotten fruit. Yum!

(bottle) pale gold with moderate white head. Strong aroma of passion fruit. Flavor is has some passion fruit, but (fortunately) not as prominent as in the aroma.

Pours sightly hazed yellow w/ a short lived, medium sized, spritzy spattered froth. Residual lacing is minimal w/ a thin ring and a silky canopy. Aromas of heated rubber peach pits. Light nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are crisp, clean, and refreshing w/ a defined passionfruit popsicle essence. Slight earthy citrus and biscuits. The finish is bittered nicely. Very dry and the flvors are some what muted, even after a little warming.

Pours clear golden with a good amount of carbonation and a soapy off-white head. The aroma has clean wheat, light sweetness and hints of lemon and passion fruit. Medium / thin body with way too much carbonation. The flavor is a bit carboardy with some indistinguishable fruit (I assume it is from the passion fruit) and some graininess. Most of the flavors are then completely muted by an onslaught of carbonation. After that leaves there is a lingering spicy fruit taste. Fair beer.
