The world’s first and only Trappist white ale that continues to ferment slightly after bottling. Brewed using only water, wheat, and hops. No herbs are added. Saphir hops give the ale its citrusy aroma. A real thirst-quencher on a hot summer’s day that also makes for a delicious drink at any other time of the year.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2015 Might as well rerate this one - old rating was almost 5 years old. Hazy yellow with a medium sized white head. Smells citrus, malts, old hops, slightly sweaty, herbs. Tastes malts, herbs and spices, Belgian yeast, wheat, hint of banana. Thin to medium body, nice crisp carbo.

Comes out of the tap a hazy, opaque lemon yellow with a nice fine-bubbled white head. Aroma is lemony, wheaty and slightly yeasty. Wheaty flavor has a hint of lemon and just a bit of yeast. Lively, fizzy texture leaves a fairly persistent tingle in the finish.

Test vom 5.11.2006 Noten: 7,6,5,4,9,5 - 5,40

Scopey (14699) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2011
Bottle (label says La Trappe Witte) at the Rake. It pours hazy straw yellow, with a massive fluffy white head and fine carbonation. The nose is wheat, farmyard, lemon, grapefruit, salt and butter. The taste is wheat, bread, grass, hay, weak lemon and grapefruit, pear drop sweets and butter, with a buttery-hay finish. It has sharp carbonation, a full body and is quite filling. A decent Belgian white.

maledictum (780) - Pyongyang, NORTH KOREA - JUN 4, 2011
Bottle at home. Pale, lightly cloudy and with a big nice white foam. Initial sweet and with a bitter, lightly sour finish. Aroma of citrus, wheat and orange. Light body and thin feel.

The aroma flies out the bottle as soon as you open it. It has lemon, clove and fresh mowed grass in it. Really fresh and fruity. Too bad it disappears quickly, that costs a few points. Once poured in the glass, it forms a huge thick head that keeps popping. Very nice and it looks great in it’s own glass. The flavour has again the lemon, but also the coriander and Granny Smith apples in it. But unfortunately, the taste is gone pretty quickly as well. Leaves you craving for another sip. Best to enjoy on the first nice spring day in the garden
