Gentle soft malts from start to Finnish. Reminded me of the smell of fresh run wort. Sweet, slight chocolate, biscuit and fruit. Nice interesting. vinhol (346) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 17, 2014
330 mil bottle from public brewery murky red in colour tan head malty aroma taste is malty ok M_Sack (782) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - APR 12, 2014
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2017 Bottle. Murky brown/red. Attractive cream head. Aromas of burnt caramel, biscuit, sticky date pudding, chocolate and just a hint of fruity hop. Roasted malt, hints of chocolate, biscuit, perhaps a hint of cherry and a touch of citrusy hop to make an interesting finish. Minimal carbonation. Really like this one. I wish more micro brewers would look towards England rather than the default us of a. norkle (14) - - APR 11, 2014
Really enjoyed this very malty ale. Don’t know what an English Red Ale should be like, but this is certainly to my taste. Lovely rich toffee malt, with something extra I found hard to define, perhaps a smokiness. Could regularly drink this in late autumn and into winter. Would go well with richly flavoured/sauced foods. I reckon this is a pretty sound English red ale, ticks all the boxes; earthy hop flavour, complex malts with hints of caramel biscuit etc. Very good and will drink again.
