Fantastic flavor and good bitterness in the flavor. Nice rich deep color and good body a little like coffee which I drink black, so this is better than Guiness Extra Stout. Yum!!

On tap. Jet black with quite big tan and solid head, some lacing. Simple aromas of caramel with little bit of roasted malts. Similar in taste, some sweet, malty flavors, light to medium body and low bitterness. Nothing special but not bad.

black color with big head, retention is enough. not a complex smell, only roasted malt and light caramel. taste is malty sweet, but finishes dry with enough bittering hops. med-light body, moderate carbonation. easy to drink, but lack of complexity is evident.

330 mL bottle shared by ebone1988. The pour is a darker brown/black with a good bit of garnet shining through. The aroma is interesting. There is a light tartness to it and a light roast. A hint of chocolate and a light lager yeast behind it. It’s really plain and not complex. The flavor is much of the same. There is a tartness to it and a light roast and chocolate. It’s got more of a quick pilsner finish on the back end. The mouth feel is a little thinner and watery with a soft-ish carbonation and a lingeringly pilsner finish. This is interesting, but very basic.

Bottle from Merchants. Bottle shared with koleminer20, from the book. Aroma is caramel, sweet corn, roasted malt, wheat, some earthy hop, just real sweet. Appearance is dark brown, tan head, would be clear if it wasn’t so dark. Taste is roasted malt, tart, coffee, caramel, maybe some chocolate, bittersweet and weak. Mouthfeel is light body, light carbonation, bittersweet aftertaste. Overall, not the best of the style.

Bottle - dark reddy brown, only small tan head. Decent slightly caramel aroma, good mouthfeel. Easy drinking, slight berry / caramel tasting - ok.

Aparência: Marrom, levemente turva, espuma bege, densa, média formação e média persistência. Aroma: Chocolate, caramelo, malte, tostado, herbal, pão e ameixa. Sabor: Gosto amargo, malte, tostado e herbal. Sensação: Corpo médio, textura cremosa, carbonatação intensa e álcool com baixa graduação. Amargor: Médio. Retrogosto: Média persistência, seco e sabor residual picante.

Bottle at Friedrichstadt, Germany. Pours dark with medium beige head. Aroma is roasted, malty and bread. Taste is well balanced between bitternes and sweetness. Give a bit sweet and watery finish. Lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Pleasant and enjoyable. My first german schwarzbier.

Malty roasted aromas. Taste is sweet, caramel and burnt sugar, some instant coffee. Thin. Finish brings some canned corn and boiled veggies

Tried for the first occasion on a river cruise down the Rhine. Pouring it into a tall draft glass I encounter an ink-black liquid yielding a very small amount of light brown foam ringing the glass. I smell malt, bread and just a bit of raisin. I get tastes of significant malt, grain and a small bitter finish. Well worth the try.
