DraftDodger (1402) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 20, 2017
Copenhagen 20/5 2017. 33 cl bottle from Meny. Very German label with a lot of medieval paraphernalia like Shields, lions and Regal Birds. Black of course. It is a Schwarzbier after all. Pours clear dark brown - almost opaque - with big off-white head. Settles as thin almost transparent layer of foam with lacing along the rim of the glass. Aroma is not particularly strong. Sweet dark malts, butter and caramel with light roastiness. Soft carbonation and medium thick palate. Flavor is rather sweet followed by light bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet slightly burnt caramel. Traditional and easily drinkable schwarzbier. No surprises - but pleasant enough.

(330 ml bottle) Jet black beer, with a dense tan head. A sweet aroma of roasted malt, and a savoury yeast extract note. Coffee, milk chocolate, mineral water, brown sugar, and a hint of raspberry. This leads to a bitter finish, with notes of oak and earth. A pleasant roasty beer, but could do with a deeper aroma, and a richer palate.
