Tap at Koulu. Copper with thick off white / even beigish lacing head. Nose is syrupy, buttery, malty, full and sweet. Flavor is sweetish, malty, syrupy, a bit toasted bread, even hoppiness and some butterness to round it up. I was told it’s a bitter, but could be vienna too. Nothing summerlike in this, but fairly musty, non-refreshing, full wintery beer to me. Good and tasty. austone (1062) - Turku; Pori, FINLAND - JUN 14, 2008
Draught @ brewpub. Clear copper w/ quite thick pale head. Mildly malty and syrupy nose. Some banana spiciness. Toasty maltiness, little spices and hops in the flavor. Clean and simple, like all Koulu brews I’ve had. ako (166) - Turku, FINLAND - DEC 7, 2007
Amber. Sweet and malty aroma turns into quite bitter hoppiness in the flavor. Not especially summery. spporras (259) - FINLAND - JUN 13, 2007

Door, Helsinki) Malty and slightly hoppy aroma. Amber colour, clear and average size, white head with fair lacing. Malty, slightly toffee and slightly acidic flavour. Light to medium-bodied, softly carbonated and slightly metallic palate. Nothing special! 12/06/07
Draught at Koulu. Amber color, small head. Sweet malty aroma (munchener malt). Sweet and fresh toasted malt aroma. Toastiness grows towards finnish along with mild herbal and bitter hop character. Too sweet, good fresh malt character though.

Dark golden in colour. Minor white head. It has a malty and hoppy aroma with a sweetness to it. It has a dry and malty taste, kinda sparkling but not all that special. I must agree with omhper when he states that it’s : "A dull beer served in a lovely environment.".
[Draught at the brewpub] Clear amber, small head. Light papery aroma. Fairly sweet with clean mouthfeel and light-medium body. The simplistic malt character makes it somewhat hars, and let cardboard dominate the flavours. A dull beer served in a lovely environment. sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 1, 2006

, later Black door) Clear amber color with a small head. Caramely, slightly wineous and acidic aroma. Toffee-caramely, mildly acidic berry flavor with mild, roasty bitterness and some metal. Light to medium-bodied palate with soft carbonation. Cant see the summer connection, but easy and ok session beer.

Dark amber color, small creamy tanned head. Nose is yeasty, some berries (strawberry) and hops. Good soft palate. Hops are combined with a bit sweet malty backbone. Nice hoppy bitter aftertaste. Good summer brew (Kesäolut = Summer beer), which should fit to autumn too. (7/3/7/4/14 3.5)
Re-rated 2006 edition
The 1st beer after 3 weeks medical treatment.
Amber brown clear color, steady beige foam. Very bready, slightly yeasty nose. Very typical Koulu-aroma. Very malty, harsh bitterness towards the finish. Bready, malty, harsh hoppy aftertaste. Quite close to what Finnish Karjala-beer used to be. (5/3/5/2/10 2.5)
Clear amber color, good big creamy white head. Stinky toilet aroma with hints of hops. Light bodied, active carbonation. Light caramel, light bready maltyness. Probably nice beer with food, but aroma was odd. (4/3/6/3/11 2.7)
Draught. Redcopperish colour, big foasmy white head. Berries and fruit along with malt in aroma. Sweet malty beginning with huge vegetably hoppy finish. Long bitterish aftertaste. Very filling mouthfeel.
