3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark brown with a large, light tan head.
Aroma comprised of caramel, chocolate and nutty malt. Very sweet smelling.
Similar flavours with caramel, nuts and lots of bready malt. Very low bitterness. Quite sweet.
Body is a bit watery, carbonation is too high.
Super easy to drink though.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle 500ml. Brown/red color with thick tan head. Average carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts, sweet caramel. A bit watery though. Nothing special, but still quite drinkable. However, not one of the best Czech Dunkels.

This is a good dunkel beer. Lots of caramel (in the end maybe to much?). Nice rocky head. Luckily I bought one can back home (from Moldova). I will save it til I´m alone...

Decent beer with a nice roasty malt taste but let down by a thin palate and watery finish. Disappointing.

Bottled many times, on tap once (so far:P) I guess the bottled ones were generally much better than the tapped one I had today but anyway - drinkable but average beer. way to wattery.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Leicht malziger Antrunk, schnell künstlich süß werdend. Pennetrant, künstlich, etwas herb. Etwas chemisch, schlecht trinkbar. Nix für mich...

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The colour is rather nice: dark reddish brown, but the tiny, fizzy, tan head lives for about 10 seconds and leaves the beer looking rather lifeless. The beer smells very close to the jar of malt extract that I keep in my refrigerator! In addition I get caramel and molasses. The taste is what you would expect from the sweet malty aroma: light sweet both initially and in the finish. The flavours are exciting: in addition to the obvious sweet malts, there are also raisins and blackcurrant. Average to soft carbonation. The Kozel is a good brew, but it’s maybe a bit 1 dimensional: the aroma, taste and flavours are totally dominated by the malty sweetness, and there is no evolution: the initial impression is what you end up with in the finish as well.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
the liquid is of a dark brown colour and pours a thin silky head that keeps it’s form for a relatively long time. looks like a nice intact dark lager. aromas of rye and even chocolate are present. a very enjoyable sweet taste and aftertaste make it a surprisingly whole experience. there isn’t too much to this beer to talk about, but what there is, it is very nicely done. there is very little variety in taste and aroma, but the full experience is so intact that it delivers what it says it will; a very honest beer. what i like about this beer is that it is so easy to drink and responds well to the temperature you drink it at. works very well even when it’s very cooled down. this is definitely one of my favourite standard dark czech lagers with it’s strong inner balance and identity.
