A dark cola brown coloured beer with orange tints and a ochre coloured, frothy head. A light aroma of dark malt, chocolate, coffee And nutty. Medium dry mouthfeel. The taste starts off dry, coffee, nutty and dark chocolate flavours are prominent, then a sweet malt taste comes through. The finish is slightly sweet and cloying. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an almost black liquid with a amber-red hue and a big, creamy beige head. Aroma of toasty malts, caramel, bread, molasses. Taste is medium sweet, turns into a very, very light bitterness. Soft carbonation on a light, thin body with a finish that mirrors the taste with sugary sweetness and hints of bready bitter notes.
The nice thing about Kozel Cerny is that it doesn’t fill you up and goes nice with food. ABV is low too, so if you want something light but toasty, you can drink this all night. The bad thing is that the sugar is too present in body and aroma for this to be a really good beer. It’s like someone spiced up dark malt lemonade.

Tap @ U Malvaze, Prague. Pours dark copper/brown, with a big thick off white head. Nose is sweet, hay and grass. Taste is caramel, toffee, slight chocolate with an ever-so-slight bitter finish.

Czarny Kozel w sumie mnie zaskoczył. Okazał się bowiem o wiele lepszy od swojego jasnego brata! Niemal czarny kolor i beżowa, dość niezgrabna piana. W aromacie trochę kakao i palonych słodów. W smaku nuty gorzkiej czekolady i całkiem spora paloność. Nie obyło się bez metalicznych posmaków, ale nie było to bardzo uciążliwe. Jak na dość niską zawartość alkoholu, Kozel wcale nie jest wodnisty. Pije się całkiem przyjemnie!

500 ml bottle. Pours deep dark brown with tan head. Aroma of cola nuts, slight caramel and hints of malts. Light sweet flavor with low bitterness, caramel and cola-like flavor. Light body, thin texture, watery with average carbonation. Tastes like cola light, wouldn’t recommend this.

500 ml bottle at Old Town Pub, Porvoo, Finland. Very dark brown with a tiny bit of tan head. Only a slight aroma of chocolate malt, treacle and Camp coffee. Sweet taste, malty and sugary. Tiniest bit of hop bitterness in the. Finish. Nicely carbonated. One-dimensional but a decent drop and a good way to start things off tonight.
