Pours brown with offwhite head. Smells lightly of carmel malt and a bit lageresque. Flavor is not bad, not good either. This is a middle of the road dark lager. Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 21, 2004
Deep black color, big boisterous off-white head. Aroma: fresh, sweet, toffeeish, roasty, nutty. I’m a bit stumped as to to the style. Is it a bottom-fermented porter, a dark lager, of a bock of some kind?
Light texture, smooth mouthfeel, very mellow. Light body, but very satisfying taste. Creamy, sweet, delicious. I like it, I like it!

Pours a nice dark color. Has a slight roasted scent. It does have a slighlty skunky flavor. I guess that since it is retired, this may be an older brew. It’s alright. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JUL 17, 2004
Bottle pours dark dark brown, slight purplish hue, large off-white pancake batter like head, with spotty lacing. Roasted malts, slight chocolate and soy on the nose. Light fruit, pears/apples, on the tongue, along with some roasted malts. Aroma is stronger than the bite. Its also a bit sweet. Body is slightly malty, mouthfeel is a bit below medium. Finishes somewhat quickly, malty, with roasted malts. Nothing complex, a simple Dunkel thats easy to drink. thegreenrooster (4518) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 21, 2004
Pours a almost black, a little light get through it. Aroma is roasted malt and I get some hops in there. Flavor is coffee and chcolate. The taste does not really hit you like it should but its there. Sorry to see it go.

Came across this one in one of my latest brew hunts. Pretty good, malty, coffee chocolate undertones, not too bitter smooth drinking beer. Its a shame its being discontinued. Alcoholist (570) - Peoria, Illinois, USA - APR 24, 2004
Dark brown with a large head. Caramel malt nose. Sweet taste with lots of maltyness. A bit thin with a dry finish. envane (572) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 24, 2004
Somewhat dry, roasty tmave. Strictly middle of the raod, but easily beat the Beck Dark I had after this. Retired? Must have been very recent. austinpowers (2832) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 5, 2004
A nice, rather dry and roasty dunkel from the Czech Republic that I've heard of for years but never seen until a recent trip to California's BevMo. A touch nutty and not terribly sweet. It's almost a porter, I'd say, due to its roastiness. OK, but I wouldn't seek it out again. Braudog (6804) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Retired? Poured dark black with sticky tan head and toffee aroma. Smoky wood flavors on a smooth beer ... quite nice.
