2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Big ol’ bottle. Pours canary yellow with a pretty good (half inch) soapy white head. Metallic aroma; pennies, apple skin, corn, malt. Flavor is odd...apple skin and pear skin, corn. Finishes with corn, and something else at the very end. Actually, this beer tastes a lot like creamed corn, watered down. Mouth feel is appropriately thin, though it feels a bit flat. Eh. This is a bit more interesting than this review suggests, but it is in the intangibles. I know that this reads like the description of a bad lager, but really, its not so bad. I could totally see people drinking this when communism was still in full effect. Possibly with a white label, black letter, that just stated ’BEER’ (in Russian of course). So there may be a theory that capitalism brings better beer. So it has that one thing going for it. Wonder what they drink in Cuba?
A below-average Euro Pale Lager. It is really quite uninspired, it has a metallic flavor with a hint of licorice or anise which is odd. ChainGangGuy (4930) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - FEB 2, 2010
Appearance: Pours out a clear, rich-looking, yellow body capped with a smallish, white head.
Smell: Simple, basic extra pale malts carry with them some sweet hints. There’s a remarkably odd scent in there that’s hard to place. It’s kind of vegetal, it’s kind of fruity, and just seem totally out of place in any beer. I’m part horrified and part intrigued!
Taste: Sweet, cheap-tasting maltiness with, blast, those hard to discern tastes. What IS that in there... Rose hips? Stale kiwi fruits sprayed with apple juice? Faint bitterness. The body begins to drastically thin out as you near the semi-sweet finish that leaves that curious flavor lingering into the aftertaste. I certainly had no problem finishing it, though more in an effort to identify those odd-ball notes, and not because I was truly enjoying myself.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Skip it. A beer that just smells and tastes odd, and not in a charming way. I don’t readily recall the price of the 16.9 ounce bottle, but I do remember it being a very, very low price. I guess it’s simply a case of "you get what you pay for." BillKismet (4138) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 20, 2009
Vigorously carbonated blonde body with airy foam head. Honeyed sweet, clean grain aroma and easy, mildly honey sweet, albeit, lackluster body. Slight heavy honey-alcohol finish. Mostly unoffensive, with a little more than the usual character. kp (10880) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - DEC 15, 2009

Bottle shared by scraff on 8/7/08: Pours a transparent bright golden with a thin ring of wispy white head. Aroma of lightly sweet pale malts and a hint of grassy noble hops. Body starts with average fullness and some light sweetness with a smooth bitter balance toward the finish. A decent strong lager.

I expected worse. I had this fairly warm and there’s not a lot of foulness. Very pale. Fairly sweet, a little grainy. Not in a plastic bottle, luckily. radagast83 (8476) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAY 1, 2009
1 pt, 0.9 fl oz. Pours extremely pale yellow, with a small head. Aroma of malts and sweetness, but not much else. Flavor is, average, drinkable pale European lager. Better than the Krasniy Vostok Zhigulevskoe Svetloe. BeerHawk (1811) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - JAN 19, 2009
Bottle. Poured golden with a fizzy white head that settled in seconds. Aroma of molasses, corn, and musty, rotten apples. The flavor found caramel, corn, and hints of lemon. Light body and slightly sweet. Not bad, just pretty average. illinismitty (2377) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 18, 2008
Bottle at a baby show that the host got for me. Pours golden with a white head. Pale lager aroma with a light but not watery body. Flavor of white bread and corn, but with a grassy bitterness. Somewhat sweet. Clean finish. You can sense, but not taste that this is a tad stronger than your usual pale lager. Nothing offensive here, but nothing exciting either. Clear neon yellow pour with a ring of white head. Sweet corn and vanilla on the nose. Sickly sweet graininess. Medium body and slick on the tongue. Not that enjoyable but extra point for the fun label.
