Label Didnt clearly indicate this was a schwartzbier - thought it was going to be a stout. Good for its genre but not what I was hoping for.

Bottle, 500ml. A deep brown colour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt and plum. Flavour has malt, caramel and some fresh hop notes. A little thin on the palate. Moderate carbonation. A little bitterness in the finish. Perfectly drinkable but could be much better.

pkbites (976) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 21, 2014
Bottle. Lovely pour of dark cola and nut brown head. Head dies much too quickly, but what there is is nice. Aroma of caramel, peanuts, bakery, and toffee. But that’s is where the fun ends. The mouth feel is much too light, and the texture is very watery. This doesn’t drink like a dark beer at all. It seems more like a light beer on the palate. Flavor is watered down, aftertaste is nonexistant. Meh.

Hangover (1142) - oxford, Georgia, USA - MAR 19, 2014
Black pour with a thin brown head. Aroma is of roasted malts and faint vanilla. Oily, light bodied with medium carbonation. Light chocolate malts on the back end. Creamy mouthfeel. Pleasant German beer. Smooth, nothing off putting.

Roddry (5) - Monterrey, MEXICO - MAR 19, 2014 does not count
Somewhat expected more from this beer the flavor is not that good for the price you normally pay for this beer at Mex.

ametras (1731) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 23, 2014
330ml bottle. Clear dark brown with a thin tan head. Flavors are cereals, honey, licorice, roasted malts, caramel, noble hops, molasses, bread and biscuit. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, thin texture.

cwsample (164) - Texas, USA - FEB 21, 2014
On tap at World of Beer. Smells of licorice and bitter nuts. Tastes vegetal and green. Not a fan.

3.8
dbhenry (139) - El Paso, Texas, USA - FEB 19, 2014
This is a good dark German beer. It has a nice head and a deep color. The malt taste is deep and somewhat complex, showing care with the caramelizing process. Hops are very light. The malt dominates the hops taste. Very good.

Discore (71) - - FEB 18, 2014
Bottle at room temperature. Black. Roasted chestnut aroma. Medium body, oily with soft to flat carbonation. Drinkable, but far from enjoyable.

3.3
EyeAmBaldman (461) - Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2014
Pours a clear dark brown and thick white head. The aroma is like tin. Very much a metal smell. However the taste is pretty good. Tastes strong at first and finishes really smooth. This beer was a lot better than I thought it would be. It’s a little malty in the beginning and finishes so smooth. Decent beer.
