A fine example of a German Schwarzbier. Crisp taste, very clean, easily drinkable.

Dark looking stout, malt taste is medium, slight but barely noticeable stout taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Opaque brown with a thin beige head, medium body with medium carbonation.

Aroma: lots of dark roasted malt.

Taste: tons of dark roasted malt with only a slight coffee note and faint astringency. Some minerality as it warms. Nicely balanced by hop bitterness and malt astringency. Dry swallow and finish.

Chocolate aroma with coffee. Tastes like molasses and chocolate. Very good taste with no bitterness very smooth.

Chocolate dark malty taste. Very rich flavoured dark beer. "Un plaisir noir avec une marque grillee"

Sep 2011: 500ml Brown bottle poured into two Alt glasses: this beer is really dark, dead dark in fact, a huge light brown head topped off a good looking beer. The aroma was of slightly smoked malts, coffee and dark chocolate also could be detected. The flavours in the mouth followed the smells almost to the letter, roasted and toasted malts giving off those lovely chocolate and coffee tastes, again with a hint of smokiness. Mouthfeel was a lot better than almost every other Schwarzbier I’ve had, being richer and thicker than the usual lager based brews normally found under this style. Wasn’t expecting such a good beer to be honest, glad I bought it. Easily the highest scoring beer of this style I’ve reviewed (this is the 12th).

12oz bottle. Unfiltered looking brown-black. Steady beige head. Clean, mellow brown chocolate aroma. A pretty respectable Schwarzbier. Gentle on the palate, that slightly lower than normal ABV makes it quite mellow. Smooth sweet caramel, brown chocolate, brownie. Some delicate hops. Quite enjoyable for the style.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2012 Very dark mahogany color with a frothy/creamy head. The head is very long-lasting and leaves exceptional lacing. The body is medium and near creamy smooth, with excellent carbonation. No flaws in the aroma or taste, but the flavor is a bit weaker than ideal.
