As dark as it can be with the barest of russet notes in the dimple of the glass, a filthy grey coloured head that seemed to leave lace on the side of the glass. A little chocolately with some dusty grain on the nose and cocoa and charry burnt fruitbread flavour. Some currant flavour as well. A tasty enough brew and suited to a massive stein on a warm evening. Now. I need me a stein.

Bottle. Dark brown with an inch of beige head. Malty, mildly treacly aroma with a little roast and licorice. Not too thin for under 4.5%, lowish carbonation. Roasted flavours are more prominent in than expected and a bit dull really. Bitterness is low and theres a touch of metal as well as light spices at the end. OK.

Appearance is almost black, opaque, a small fizzy head. Aroma- dark malt, hops, treacle, trace of smoke. Taste- smoky malt, chocolate, fluffy fizzy mouthfeel, hop bitterness, smooth chocolatey finish. Nice.

Demens (402) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAR 10, 2017
0,33l bottle. Clear dark brown colour with a long lasting off-white head. Aroma: Strong malt drink aromas with caramel, sugar syrup caracter and light roasted coffee beans. A bit artifically sweet but okey. Taste: Full rich malty lightly sweet start with a pleasent bitter mouthfeel. Light/medium body with medium carbonation. Medium lasting bitter/sweet finish.

400ml, 4.7 % abv, on tap at Gullkorn lbar, Hamar. Off-white head to a deep black body. Clingy lacing. Roasted aroma of dark bread. Taste of dark bread, dough and dark chocolate followed by a roasted malty finish. Medium bodied. Likable (03.03.2017).

midovark (795) - Balassagyarmat, HUNGARY - MAR 1, 2017
Bottled. Pours black with thin head. Coffee, roasted malts and some chocolate appear in aroma and taste, but altogether its quite thin and watery. If they werent this short on components it couldve been better.

Bottle. Semi hazy. Some ruby highlights, brown otherwise. Small bubbles, cream colored head. Light aroma. Grain, chocolate. Slight grain flavor, some more sweet notes than others in the style. Chocolate, bready.

Much better than expected. Nice roast and milk chocolate, low(ish) fizz, holds a chill well. Makes for a nice dark beer in the tropics.

vinivini (1931) - Gomel, BELARUS - JAN 31, 2017
Bottle at 4.7% ABV. Pours opaque deep brown. Lush frothy beige head. Decent retention. The foam leaves sophisticated pattern laces on glassware. Bread and wort on nose. Also molasses, roasred malts. Light to medium body. Oily palate. Rich malts on flavour. Bready, toasty, minor roastiness. Semidry. Light grassy bitterness on ending. Highly drinkable and well made.
