Its really not that great, just another boring lager really, cost way too much in a paris bar (like 4) and wasnt worth a single penny of that. 1664 is a nicer, 1664 blanc is nicer still

Draught. A yellow gold coloured lager with a little whitish head and some lace. The aroma is watery and grassy/glassy. The taste is watery and thin. There is a little malt base but nothing of any significance. Dull and common as muck.

Bottle. 4,2% Pours golden with a white head. Odd aroma; clearly had hops when it was poured, but stuck my nose in the glass and got a sourish, somewhat burnt, unbrewed coffee aroma. Coffee is usually a good thing in the aroma, but not in this case! Flavour is grainy and watery - thats it. Oh wait - my bad; there are also some plastic notes and rice as it warms. Lifes just too short...

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2006 Very common french blond beer. Not much to say about it. Its quite watery but refreshing, a metallic aftertaste just like its older sister the "1664".

(Bottle 33 cl) Pretty, fully golden with a fairly decent head - and thats about it. Soft, very soft actually, with a very weak bitterness. But otherwise a classical, streamlined, commercial lager. Very uninteresting indeed. 040303

Paris - Light hoppy nose with a nice taste. I was surprised with the bite in this one. Pours gold and goes down smooth. Not bad for a "cheap" beer.

Pours a golden colour with a white head. Emmits a skunky sweet aroma (yum). The flavour is a repeat of the nose with fizzy carbonation. Not exactly a tantalizing drink. Thanks to my friend Brian for picking me up this and a few others while in Amsterdam.

Didnt realize that this was a different beer from 1664 until I tried to order it in a brasserie, and ordered the wrong thing. Who knew 1664 could be considered upscale? This one was sweeter and much more delicious. Great for rounds. Had this, amongst other places, at 3 Ducks Hostel, 15e, Paris.

Used to be a clean, balanced International Style Pale Lager. Id say it now tastes like cheap beer. BMC can beat this one! God Bless America, and England, Aussies, people we dont know...!
