UPDATED: JAN 25, 2016 50cl bb06/2016, REWE Bayreuth as "Festbier". - Fluffy maroni dark pour, velvet beige foam. Ar: Roasted nuts, maroni parfait, milk chocolate mousse, crème caramel, woody and even smoked juniper notes - lovely. Flavour: nut caramel parfait, Christstollen, milk chocolate - then a distinctly woody herbal hop bitterness I have only tasted in Franconian Dunkels, of near Alt character. Wonderful silky-smooth, fluffy mouthfeel for a dark speciality lager, truly impressive, ensuring a downability in a few gulps, which is what makes this beer shine. Big surprise and true brewing art in such a modest bully buddel. - Cf. #spezielles Maischverfahren, #Spezialmalze #wurstpudding. - --------&# "Weihnachtsbier", 5,5 ABV, bb06/2016 (2 different bottles of Festbier and Weihnachtsbier bought separately): still tasty, less impressive: earthy almond, marzipan mixed with slight wiffs of abv, highly drinkable. De-alias might be in order given that you can buy both in different bottles in the same market.

WillemsUrenkel (1979) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - DEC 19, 2015
0,5 l bottle bought at Brause Syndikat, BI. Dark brown in the glass and a mighty more than two finger head. Low malty on the nose. Taste starts malty, low smoked, some sweetness in the background. Low bittterness due to the roasted malt. Nothing spectacular but okay.

dnicolaescu (2679) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - OCT 10, 2015
BOTTLE 50 CL at 5,5% abv. Clear mahogany, light beige creamy head. Clean malty bready aroma. Taste is malts, dark bread, a touch of bread crust that melts into the lightly bitter finish,. Clean smooth body. A simple but well done dunkel.

Хороший, честный дункель.

Zlotta (3728) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - APR 14, 2015
0,5 l bottle from P&M Getränke, best before 14/8/2015. Beautifully, clear, dark amber with a medium large, creamy, almost stable, tan head. Grassy, malty aroma of nuts and a bit of toffee. Sweetish taste of nuts and toffee, with gentle hints of coffee in the end. Short, slightly bitter and minimally metallic finish. Thin to medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Solid and tasty, just what you would expect from Franconia.

Bottle sample at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. As Krug-Bräu Festbier. 5.5%. Clear amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, a nutty note and some vegetal notes. Sweetish flavor with caramel, toast, a bit of nuts, a vegetal note and a drier finish. Light to medium-bodied. Easy-drinking.

Beerhunter111 (22214) - P´Castle, GERMANY - MAR 30, 2014
Ins Glas ergießt sich ein rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, Karamell, würzig. Geschmack leicht röstmalzig süß, leicht schokoladig, minimal würzig.

kappldav123 (6129) - GERMANY - MAR 2, 2014
Bottle looks simple but really good. Beer in the glass zippy, brownish, nice head. Starts malty-dry, not too roasty, some hints of caramel. Light fruity notes of plum. Finish a bit milder. Okay.

The bottle looks good, really christmas-like. The beer in the glass also, darker than exspected, huge head. Starts strong and malty, modest roasty, not too dry. A little bit smoky. Also fruity notes of plum. The smoky notes make a wonderful aftertaste. Very drinkable and good beer!
