Bottle sampled at Thomas W, thanks. Short light brown head. Dark amber color, somewere between lager and a dunkel. Light aroma of Munic malt. The Munic malt also dominate the taste and give some residual sweetness.

Drought. Reddish brown with spongy beige head, light caramel aroma, roasted malt-caramel taste, fizzy, sweetish finish. Very very nice dunkel.

Pours a clear brownish color with a fizzy tan head that quickly disappears to nothing at all. Smells of rich dark malt, caramel, dark bread, a bit nutty. the taste echoes the nose finishing nicely dry. A little oily with crisp carbonation on the plus side of light. Overall a tasty brew that I would love to try on tap.

Ziemlich dunkle Optik. Test vom 30.3.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Tap @ Dauth Schneider 30/01/13. Pours an auburnish dark brown with a yellowish-brown, large-bubbled head. Aroma is light caramel, a lot of dark bread, slight German hops. Taste begins with a strong caramel, some herbal flavor as well. Light breadiness. The finish is a disappointment. It is watery and light and not much of an aftertaste. Light herbal and wooden notes. Palate is light, somewhat carbonated, a bit watery. A bottle I had a few days later (thanks Hart) was completely different. It was a bit older, but the aroma and flavor were strongly hazelnut. Scored the tap version.

Doughy malty nose, deep copper-brown color. Light caramelly malt with some raisin flavor. Broad oaky bitter. Medium body with a crisp texture, though the mouthfeel was a little soapy. OK, but not so special.

Medium white rocky head, which leaves legs on the glass, on the dark brown colored brew.Slightly sulphury nose with an intense clay aroma. Toasted malt taste, nutty - kind of weak body though.

Test vom 13.11.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,9,12,9,9,10 - 10,15

Bottle 50cl. Beautiful clear amber brown color, one finger frothy off-white head, long lasting, fair lacing; aroma roasted malts, grain, dough, hint of smoke; taste moderate sweet, bit roasted, slightly bitter, hint of caramel; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; in the finish mild bitter with roasty notes.

ippopotamo36 (2294) - Rome, ITALY - JUL 6, 2015
o,50 bottle purchased in Franconia-Germany and consumed in Kosovo. Mortlach, beviiiiiiii. Pours a very brownish-dark amber color with a medium ivory foam with retention on the surface. Nose: burnt bread crust, a far too wired farmhouse note (mmmmh), a hint of liquor (Ballantines, something sweet or orangey). Mouth: amber-vienna malts orientation forward, easy drinking anyway, sweet character immediately cut by a bitter finish. Not that refined, a bit confusing although highly enjoyable.
