Draft at Kuhnhenn (from notes). Pours a hazy brown color with a thin film. The aroma and flavor had sweet caramel malts, brown sugar, and ripe dark fruits. The 12% shows at times. This was a touch thinner than I would have liked. It seems to be missing something their other big beers have. badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - AUG 10, 2010
brownish pour at kuhnhenn..this was a little bit of a letdown. overly caramelized and hot, this beer seems too boozy and one-dimensional for a barley wine. BigBeer45 (1532) - Michigan, USA - MAR 21, 2010
On Tap at Kuhnheen’s during the ‘09’ Winter Soltice,
served a hazy-murky light brown with a small faint off-white bubbled ring in the glass,
aromas of caramel, bread, faint scent of light and dark fruit, and some brown sugar sweetness,
flavors of caramel, bread, fruit, brown sugar sweetness and some alcohol, small bitterness at the finish from the alcohol and hops,
mouth feel is a little thinner than what I would expect for a Barley Wine,
this was an ok Barley Wine.

Poured a cloudy a cloudy brown with no head. aroma malts, cherry, caramel, brown sugar and dark fruits. Flavor like the aroma. This was not a typical smelling and tasting barley wine, wasn’t as sweet and full, but still a good beer SrSilliGose (3331) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - JAN 1, 2010
tap at brewpub. pours a clear copper. notes of cherry, rye, caramel, and booze. pretty smooth and drinkable. a little too bready and watery, which makes no sense since it is listed as 12%abv. not bad though.

Sampled at Kuhnhenn on 11/27/09. 6 oz snifter. Murky deep caramel brown color. Aroma is caramel, raisins, brown sugar. Taste is sweet, mouthfeel is smooth with crisp carbonation, finishes a bit hot. Sammy (12204) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 20, 2009
Winner of the amateur brewing fest, and featured at 2009 Winter Solstice. Like a RIS. Black, minimum head. Some sourness. Carbonation right there. Above average mouthfeel. Tmoney99 (14480) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 12, 2009
Draft at brewpub in snifter. Poured hazy brown color with an average off-white frothy head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toastd malt and dark fruit aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium dark sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable, but below average for style.

On tap at brewpub. Served in snifter. Pours murky brown with small tan head. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel and toffee. Flavor was malty with some sweet caramel, toffee, and brown sugar. Wasn’t oiverly sweet like a lot of BW can be but it was not that complex of flavorful either. Not a bad beer just not as bold as you would expect a 12% beer to be. I found it enjoyable none the less. barncatmatt (2286) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 18, 2009
on the menu as "brew bubba jerry bonicci barley wine". the bartender called it bonicci barley wine. this was the result of a winning homebrew made by jerry bonicci. 6 oz snifter @ kuhnhenn. brown body with very little carb, almost no head. sour vinegar nose with fruity malt and booze also showing. decent base to this but its definantly not on form at the moment. the 6 oz was hard to finish and it was kind of a bummer since this was my last brew. it was the only i had at kuhnhenn that dissapointed me.
