Bottle shared by Ryan. Aroma is pretty sweet with hints of dark malts, brown sugar, booze, and bourbon. Flavors are very well balanced with many of the aromas coming through in flavor. ABV is masked very well amongst the flavors. robinvboyer (4722) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 9, 2011
From a bottle side by side with the regular 4th dementia ale, at le mondiale 2011. Just like my ratings for the original 4th dementia ale, very similar but add loads of bourbon and vanillanto every aspect of this beer. The barrel ageing adds quite a bit to the mouthfeel to an already viscous beer. The mouthfeel was bordering huge barrel aged impy stout territory. At times the bourbon was over powering, at times it was welcome. A pretty intense beer, a real sipper. Quite easy drinking considering.....beware! Muhhahahah! Thanks to my buddy Matt for this. 12oz bottle, 2010. Pours a deep, viscous cola brown with a very small bubbly beige head. Big nose of vanilla, bourbon, caramel, toffee, molasses and hints of oak. Very bold on the the palate with flavors similar to those found in the nose. Glad I have more of this....;) MaltOMeal (1094) - Land of Sugar, Texas, USA - JUL 3, 2011
2010 vintage bottle. Had to do an international trade to get this. Pours black with a thin tan head. Nose is of molasses and bourbon. Taste is of bourbon and chocolate tootsie roll. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with alcohol noticeable. Good brew. Glad I got to try it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try this until midnight and nodded off while drinking it. When i woke up, I reached for my glass on the desk and knocked it to the floor, losing the remaining third of the pour and breaking a favorite glass.

Wow, seriously? Thanks to Ashley (I hope that is the proper spelling. After sharing such a great beer, it would be a shame to butcher your name) for bringing this to the tasting. I’ve been dying to try this ever since Badnewsbeers threw in the regular version as a trade bonus last year. This has all of the great dark fruit, sweet candied sugar, and spices of the original with some heavy damn bourbon as well. Another level of complexity has been skillfully added without taking much away from the base. Well done. bierkoning (13451) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - JUN 29, 2011
Bottle from Jrallen74, thanks!! Deep dark brown color. Dried fruit, raisin, hints of oak and plums in the aroma. Malty, very sweet flavor. Warming alcohol. Poro. Bourbon barrels. Dried red fruit. Plums and licorice. Full bodied, thick and sticky on the tongue. Oak and subdued hops compensate the sugary sweetness.
Poured from a 12oz bottle from 48FaninCali. Thanks Austin. Pours a rich mahogany (like Ron Burgundy ’s office) with very little head. Aroma is a ton of bourbon and some caramel, licorice and toffee. Taste follows the nose. Bourbon predominates with lots of sweetness. An amazing beer. I will need to trade for more. Lubiere (14126) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 24, 2011
A dark brown ale with almost no head. In aroma, plum, molasses, wood extract, soy sauce, woody and fragrant. In mouth, a viscous maple insanity, with licorice, warming alcohol, dark mashed fruits, extreme but good, but also difficult. Bottle at Mondial 2011, June 9, 2011.
