2011 Vintage. 12 oz. bottle, sent from northernbrews (thanks a lot, Jeff), pours a dark brown with an amber tinge and a small beige head. Nose is full of bourbon barrels, English malt, brown sugar and vanilla - quite complex and sweet. Flavour reveals a very sweet bourbon bomb, but with loads of depth and complexity - with lots of vanilla, tons of bourbon barrels, brown sugar, caramel, English malts, a bit of dried dark fruits and alcohol. Palate is intensely syrupy, and while extremely sweet, not cloying. An enjoyable winter warmer and slow hot sipper, perfect for being around a campfire, though it is definitely brutal and a bit over the top. Still, for what it is, solid stuff.

355ml bottle bottle thanks to dEnk. Very dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through. Small to medium sized, light brown head that disappears fairly quickly but leaves a fair lacing in the glass. Smell dark and roasted malts, wood, liquor, a slight hint of coffee. Taste malts, roasted malts, caramel, liquor (so I guess bourbon), lightly sweet. A bit thinnish body in the beginning, but somehow after swallowing it gets more thick. Nice one!

Draft sample at MBGWF 2011. Poured cloudy brown color with an average frothy light brown creamy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Heavy aroma of complex sweet bourbon. Medium to full body with smooth texture and flat carbonation . Heavy complex sweet bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy sweet bourbon finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations were met with a complex standout brew.

Bottle - Vintage 2013 - Butterscotch, vanilla, bourbon, and raisin. Deep cloudy brown with a small off white head. Bourbon, anise, raisin, plum and a bit of roast with barrel notes throughout. Nice, but I actually like the regular better.

2010 (bottle acquired via trade) at THE others tasting. It pours deep red-brown with a limited beige head. The nose is meaty, oxo cubes, beef, wood, earth, toasted coconut, hint of bourbon, faint blue cheese and some alcohol warmth. The taste is wood, meaty, earth, big alcohol warmth, bourbon, sticky dark fruit, caramel, dark chocolate and varnish, with a dry, warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Nice depth of flavour, but the alcohol warmth spoils it for me.
