Small bottle shared at Clarks house. Poured copper in color with no head or carbonation present. Aroma of sweet chocolate and honey. Tastes is sweet with honey, and finishing smooth with milk chocolate. Little to no alcohol warming which is surprising for the listed 14.5%. This held up very well. Thanks Clark! egajdzis (6501) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 4, 2008
Poured still, a deep bronze color with thick, sticky legs on the glass. Aroma of honey, chocolate, and a bit of maple wood. Taste was sweet honey up front, which turned to citrus, and perhaps even a little tartness, leading to a sweet chocolate finish. Thanks to Clark for sharing this one! Bought from the parents of the owners, at the brewery. Beige brown colour with a retained head. Aroma of hops, chocolate malt, honey. The chocolate malt in the taste dominates the spice of the star thistle honey. I liked the uncarbonated mead version better, I am a purist. Was better the next day when carbonation eased off somewhat.
