12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, 2012 winter Solstice bottling. Pours hazy deep ruby brown color with a small foamy off white head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raspberry, cherry, cranberry, raisin, orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, spice cake, brown sugar, and licorice. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of fruit notes with malt and moderate spices. Taste of raspberry, raisin, cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, spice cake, brown sugar, clove, and licorice. Lingering notes of dark fruits, brown sugar, spice cake, cinnamon, nutmeg, and licorice on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruit flavors with big malt sweetness and moderate spices; no cloying sweetness after the finish surprisingly. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick and syrupy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent and unique winter warmer style. Big robustness and nice balance of fruity, malt, and spice flavors; and quite smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering. badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUL 12, 2011
sampled at the mich winter beer fest. holy eff this tastes exactly like stollen. light brown pour. aroma of light chocolate, citrus, herbs, heavy spice. flavor adds some pot and cinnamon to the aroma...very sweet and bready, with resin, almond, and tons of stuff. interesting and good. umich03jm (3512) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - JAN 3, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Bottle from Winter Soltice. Pours a very murky dark ruby color with no head. Aroma is a mix of cherry cough syrup, caramelized sugar, and bread. Taste is big on cherry cough syrup. Sugary sweet and a slightly boozy finish. Medium body, somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Not bad but not exactly good either. Re-rate 10/23/14 - Bottle almost 2 years old now. Thanks Tammy! Taste and smell no longer come off like cough syrup. Still sugary sweet but in a good way. Packed with fruit cake and light booze. Alot better now than fresh. Original rate was 6/3/6/4/12. b3shine (9412) - Indiana, USA - JAN 3, 2013
Bottle to snifter (shared with the wife; thanks mikem409). Looks good; an almost completely opaque reddish-brown with thin off-white lacing. Smells of malt and fruitcake. Tastes like it smells with a nice, clean finish. Drinks easier than 9% too. My wife and I both enjoyed this one (and I don’t even like fruitcake). Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a hazy brownish-orange color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Spicy aroma of coriander and anise with some malt in the background. Medium body with a sweet spice character and flavors of malt, pine and fruit. The finish is sweet with a lingering spice aftertaste. Above average overall.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a reddish-brown color with an off-white head. The aroma is very heavy on the cherries. The flavor is similar with a few additions. There is still a good bit of cherry character, but I also get some nice maple, oak and vanilla notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. wedgie9 (2703) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - APR 2, 2014

Tasted on 4/1/14 from a capped 12oz bottle sent as an extra in a trade. Pours almost completely opaque dark ruby with a thin beige head that quickly disappears. The nose is really dominated by sweet dried fruit, raisin, with plenty of toffee and caramel. The flavor is cola sweet with the same dried fruit, a combination of dark date and raisin, with red cherry and berry, with the same caramel on the back. The body is full with above average, fizzy carbonation and a long caramel and dried fruit finish.
Draft sample at MBGWF 2011. Poured hazy reddiah amber with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy fruit, dough and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy spice and fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderated duration. Refreshing complex beer.

On tap at Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice Night Two. Brown and lacey. Citrus and ginger. A big nose of spices. Some sugar. A sipper, yet drinkability assured. Nothing like any xmas beer head before.
