On tap: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate chip cookies with a hint of vanilla and a touch of grain. It’s a brownish-orange with a creamy khaki head that settles to a thick film. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy cocoa powder and milk chocolate. There is some faint brown sugar in the middle with a hint of grain. The finish has light vanilla. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation. As with most of the Kuhnhenn Breakfast of Champions beers, a small dose is key. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - JAN 16, 2015
Tap @ Kuhnhenn: Murky & swampy dark brown pour with a quickly settling, small beige cap. Aroma is pretty nice. Very malty as expected. Soft, with notes of semisweet chocolate chips, toasted bread, light caramel, maybe a hint of vanilla. There’s something else I’m smelling that I can’t put my finger on, & it has haunted me forever. Flavor is a little watered down compared to the rich aroma. Sweet malts, caramel, chocolate, & a helping of toasted bread & heavy yeast that lends a mild "cookie" vibe next to the chocolate malt. What’s funny is that the flavor tastes like a slightly more chocolatey dunkel, yet the aftertaste that lingers on my palate literally tastes like I just ate a spoon of Cookie Crisp. Crazy, bonus points for that. Thin bodied, sort of. Splashy. Wish the beer tasted like the aftertaste from start to finish. BlowOffTube (501) - Michigan, USA - MAR 27, 2014
Ugly light brown pour thin head. Light malt ball aroma hint of chocolate. Cookie taste with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Kind of weird and sweet. Light body light carbonation. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - MAR 19, 2014
Sample draft at Kuhnhenn. Pours reddish-brown with a very small head. Aroma is faint, some light chocolate and grain. Tastes like a regular dunkel to me and it’s boring. Mostly bread with some light chocolate and nuts. Finish was very harsh and it made me not want to finish the sample. Just nothing really going on with this one. This one poured a lighter brown color with a minimal biege head. Aroma was of cereal grain notes, light chocolate sweetness, and some oats too. Flavor was similar but more intense and more of what I was looking for, look chocolate chip cookies floating in a pool of milk. Just like the cereal.
