My palate was a bit awry when I tried this. It was too sweet and imposing for me.

Christian (13815) - Odense, DENMARK - FEB 20, 2014
Odense catch-up from the cellar. 2011. Dark red chestnut colour with a tiny off-white head. Fabulous rich malt aroma with dark bread, biscuit, dried fruit and vineous alcohol. Disappointlingly thin and watery fruity and malty flavour, with plenty of alcohol

Dogbrick (13763) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2011
Sample at the brewpub. Dark amber pour with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of caramel, malt and hops. Rich body with flavors of resiny hops, caramel malt and dark fruits. The finish is dark malts and fruits. Good beer overall.

Rune (13508) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2012
Bottle, 355ml shared with Lars Marius at Schouskjelleren. Clear, dark ruby red body. Naked surface and just a few spots on the glass. Wood and dried fruits to the nose. Bread, earth and tart berries to the taste buds promoting a jam-like impression. Lingering malt-fruity ending. Powerful and full bodied, still rather smooth on the swallow. Enjoying (Oslo, 10.12.2012).

Bov (13221) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - NOV 26, 2012
from Erzbierschof - cloudy dark brown beer with no head retention; aroma of prune, cherries and alcohol; thick and heavy malt backbone; huge aspartame-like sweetness and sticky; somehow manages to be pretty dry; burning alcohol kick and more notes of prunes in the finish - cough syrup; my second beer from Kuhnhen and this one is even worse as the first ...

On tap at Kuhnhenn. Poured a dark brown, almost black color with a small sized off white head. Dark fruits, some breadiness, caramel, brown sugar and molasses. Some alcohol in the finish but overall well hidden.

"A world different from the horrid Sam Adams TB. Very sugary sweet, and fairly alcoholic, but made for a pretty nice sipper. Honey, sweet malts, fudge up front and center."

Sammy (12760) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 31, 2007
Floral aroma. Scotch colour and malty scotch aroma. Blind tasting of the baleywine say it was an old ale. Sweetish. A real style bender. Full mouthfeel, a meal. Bottles were available and I kick myself now.

3.2
