Draft @ Kuhnhenn’s winter solstice (notes). Pours golden amber with a small off white head. The nose provided a heavy dose of citrus and tropical fruits, pine, tough to tell if the sweetness was malty or part of the fruitiness. This was really about the hops. Flavors were much of the same: big citrus and tropical fruit, pine, some caramel, and no hint at the 8.5%. This was insanely drinkable for a double IPA. Maybe the most drinkable double I’ve had. Ordered a glass, and then immediately ordered a growler after the first sip. Piney and fruity goodness, with a lingering bitter aftertaste.

Name: Dazed and Confused
Date: December 12, 2008
Appearance: hazy orange, wispy head
Aroma: big sweet fruity aroma, sweet citrus orange and a touch of cat, sweet pine
Flavor: lots of hop flavor, long bitter finish, touch of fruity sweetness adds some balance but the hops rule the day, as it sits and warms the sweet pine and fruity orange take back over from the big bitterness
Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 6/10; Flavor: 7/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 15/20
On tap at the pub. Deep golden color with a bubbly off white head. Huge fresh hop nose of pine and grapefruit rind and alcohol as it warms. Tons of citrus hops in the flavor with oragne pith, grapefruit rind, tangerine and apricot jam. Long candied grapefruit rind finish. Very nice hoppy beer. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 3, 2009
On tap at the Kuhnhenn Brew Pub. Poured a medium and cloudy amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of floral hops and lots of citrus. Tastes of citrus -oranges- and some piney, earthiness. Alcohol content well hidden and very enjoyable!

Draft at Kuhnheen. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy complex spicy citrus aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Heavy citrus bitter flavor with a solid bitter finish that was long lasting. This is a standout brew. polomagnifico (1202) - Saginaw, Michigan, USA - DEC 31, 2008
On tap 2008. Aroma has notes of citrus, flowers, and a little resin. Nice medium amber hue with a large off white head that mostly lasted. Flavor is sweet and very bitter. Palate is medium bodied with a soft oily finish. Huge beer that I could drink all night. Awesome! punkrkr27 (903) - Berkley, Michigan, USA - DEC 31, 2008
Tap. Copper pour with a loose white head. Lots of grapefruit aroma with floral notes and hints of bubblegum and cereal. Grapefruit and bubblegum flavor upfront which quickly fades to honey, toasted caramel and then to lingering pine, slight juniper and a rye pepperiness on the finish. Slightly sticky medium body with moderate carbonation. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 31, 2008
tap at kuhnhenns solstice party... barely noticed that this was even available... pours a transparent apple cider brown with only thin bubbles for a head hence the low appearance score... assertive orange and tropical fruit hop aroma with some pine accents to boot... citrusy hop flavors with some pine resin bitterness in the finish. drinkable at 8.5 percent abv. one of the standouts of the day for me. kuhnhenn is making some lovely hoppy beers right now. On tap at brewpub. Gold with a small head. Aroma is plenty of citrus with orange and tangerine. The flavor is as good as any of the fresh squeezed hop juice IPAs from San Diego. Not stinging with abv as the 8.5 that you would think, this is really drinkable. Semi dry finish.
