4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
6.3 oz bottle. Clear, bright, rich reddish-brown hue. Wonderful smell of chocolate-covered raspberries with honey drizzled on top! What a rich desert in a glass: Nothing subtle about the chocolate, raspberry or mead notes - a lot of all of them, yet very smooth taste. A sublime after-dinner drink made with 2/3 mead and "1/3 Raspberry Truffle Port, with extra fruit and chocolate added"! This ain’t your father’s mead... Full bodied.
Bottle at home picked up years ago from the brewpub. I was debating what to do with my 5000th rate since I still have a huge backlog to work through. I came across this bottle and thought it would be perfect; small, low rates, over 4in average, so here we go. Pours a deep reddish/purple/brown color with nohead. The aroma and flavor have big raspberry fruit character, almost a raspberry Jolly Rancher type note, sweet honey, hints of chocolate, the booze that is still present cuts the sweetness somewhat, good but I probably couldn’t do much more of this myself. Bottle shared by yobdoog at Southampton in January ’11.
Dark ruby/copper pour.
Crazy fumy sample. Carried it around for a couple hours, taking a whiff here & there to keep me sharp. First thought was cotton candy. Then really fruity red wine. Mixed berries.
Taste is something like shoving a bunch of different flavored taffies in your mouth all at once. A touch caramelized. The honey is lost in this one, but it does add decent body. More wine. So sweet & only slightly tart. I could probably bounce off the walls with just a slightly bigger pour. Slick texture. Such a sipper. Intense & unique. Thank you Trevor. :) Sean9689 (285) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 26, 2012
Bottle shared at our Epic Tres tasting by Masterski through FlandersNed. Pours a ruby reddish/purple color, nice legs along the side of the glass. Lots of sweet raspberry & chocolate on the nose, very rich and smooth. Tastes like chocolate raspberry cheese cake...simply decadent! I have to say, I like this on better then BB French Toast. Amazing stuff! yobdoog (1888) - Kingston, New York, USA - APR 6, 2012
This stuff was awesome. @SH RIS release. Pours a beautiful still bright raspberry color. Aroma is sweet, like raspberry cake and frosting. Not much alcohol on the aroma or flavor. Flavor is sweet, smooth, like pie. Has a touch of the whole pie with the crust and all. Some sweet fudge and candied raspberries. fbm115 (187) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 29, 2011

(sampled at Dak’s Memorial Day tasting and shared by the very generous Sparky!!). Pours clear red/brown color. Aroma has incredible chocolate and raspberry notes. The taste is sweet and follow suit of the aroma. Medium bodied with slick texture. Smooth finish with the alcohol noticeable. This was a very nice pyment. ktrillionaire (11) - Florida, USA - JUN 4, 2011
Bottle shared by MasterSki. This is the most delicious thing I have ever had in my life. I am an avid fan of KRE, and ’04 KRE was probably the most delicious libation I had ever encountered prior to this; Kuhnhenn is the master of the Raspberry, doubtless. Anyhow, the mead is viscous and radiantly ruby; it glistens as it shows legs on the glass. The nose is unmitigated raspberry decadence; as if every concievable exposition of raspberry deliciousness were concentrated into a single syrup, then caramelized into liquid toffee; furthermore, it is at once intense and sublime. The flavor delivers on every bit of the aroma’s promise, and then some; the silkiness of the body is outrageously enhancing. Chocolate truffle, tart and sweet raspberry, berry melange, toffee, dulce de leche and just about anything else criminally delicious is suggested, and yet it retains exquisite sophistication. I like. Bottle generously shared by Sparky. Crimson, garnet colored pour with light ruby highlights. Aroma is assertive raspberry purée, compote, and chutney accompanied by slight honey sweetness. Tons of raspberry jam, caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - APR 18, 2011
