COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Rice India Pale Ale. This gold colored West Coast style Double India Pale Ale has an intense hop nose, with aromas mainly of citrus. The high hop character dominates this IPA’s flavor pro-file. Made with American long grain rice, it is quite difficult to make but the rice con-tributes to this beer’s crisp aftertaste.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear, golden-orange colored body with an inch thick, dense and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is awesome. Very fruity and has tons of bright citruses with lots of grapefruits and some pineapples as well as a bit of a spicy tropical fruitiness. There is a bit of a plum and rice spice making it feel Asian-esque too. Lots of florals, some pines, resins, and a light malt that offers a pleasant sweetness and brings out the fruity hops very nicely. Flavor is similar. Lots of bright citrus grapefruits and pineapples up front with some resins and a very nice mix of florals and pines. Some more of that Asian inspired, rice and plumminess too. The malts are on the lighter side, but there is a touch of caramel and graininess that seems to accentuate the hops. Finishes dry with a moderate, citrusy and bright bitterness as well as lots of florals and some more tropical fruits. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a damn good DIPA. Tons of bright citruses and a really cool, rice-Asian-plum aspect. Very well balanced and easy drinking. Wonderful beer.

Dogbrick (13026) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 25, 2011
Sample at the brewpub. Pours a deep copper color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Piney hops and toasted malt in the nose. Full body with flavors of citrus and pineapple, piney hops and a sweet malt base. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Pretty good overall.
